This is for complete novelty purposes. In order to claim the bounty you must 1) Create a working fork of the bitcoin network that is functionally identical to bitcoin in every way, it simply reverts back to block 219200 (February 2nd, 2013) 2) Call it "CtrlZCoin" 3) Post it open source on Github, example: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoinDo this and I will send you 15 ZCoin on said network You might also be surprised at the number of people interested in running and mining it.

"block 219200 (February 2nd, 2013) " Is that the block before you sent someone 100,000 BTC lol Basically, but I'm curious how many other people would be interested in checking out their finances from that time period. So many decisions re-visited, laughs to be had. Can we instead call this fork GoxCoin? Wink
+15 GXC Ha!

Just to be sure, this should be fairly easy to create this alt-currency correct? Nothing about the protocol needs be changed, just chopping off a portion of the bitcoin blockchain back to a specific point. If it can't be done and I'm imagining it wrong, let me know.

Interesting. So the people who mine it are the ones who lost all their BTC on Gox. They basically feel cheated and are going to start their own version of BTC like Gox never happened.
Hey I know can we fork the BTC chain back to November 3rd 2012 so that I can get back the 10,000 bitcoins I sold for $3. I want it back because I made a mistake selling it as I did not realize that Bitcoin would be $1200 each in 2014. So can someone make a new block chain for me. I''ll send you 100 of those BTC at $1200 each that an easy $120,000 for the service. :p:p:p

Ouch man, I feel for your pain. I think the November 3rd rewind is gaining traction, so I think I could support+mine that. Plus the difficulty would at least be initially pretty low until someone with more asic power took over. The idea is to go back far enough so that the damage caused by gox is nil. Now who do we know that can easily fork this?

Interested on this. Why that specific block? Anyway I completely agree on this. I still have 200 btc lying around at that time. Maybe I can recover those.

Good luck with the rollback.
Just a shame the coins on the fork would be completely worthless.

It's like a system restore point by community consensus. Consensus?? Maybe from people who lost coins on MtGox, this is reasonable. But is absurd to think something like that. You will start with a fork at difficulty 3.200.000.000. Who will mine it?

You will start with a fork at difficulty 3.200.000.000. Who will mine it? Well, small consensus. I guess if MtGox coins are lost forever it would gain a small but loyal following.

Bitcoin 2.0
I am not a developer but this sounds like an ingenious idea! All you need is for the new coin to be called Bitcoin 2 instead of ZCoin. You recreate a new wallet based on Scrypt and price each one exactly 1 BTC let it roll into Cryptsy to trade. The LOG will be almost identical to BTC with a 2.0 on it. And trust me people will switch all their BTC to the UPGRADED BTC.
And after that you WILL get the entire ALTCOIN community to switch over because its now a Scrypt-Bitcoin. If you have more people mining this Bitcoin 2.0 vs the regular BTC then you are good to go. It may even be compatible with the BTC before block 219200.

Do this and I will send you 15 ZCoin on said network Ha, I know what your plan is! You're going to pay me 15 ZCoin in block 219202 and then offer a bounty to go back to block 219201! You're a scammer! :-)
