If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system.

The first thing I wanna point out though, is that nifty clear, plastic base supporting the cards, mobo, psu, etc. Did you make that yourself? That's pretty damn spiffy, imho.

Oh...you mean the one propped up on 2 HDD's ? lolz Lol, yea. Cheesy maybe, but I think its pretty damn neat. Especially if you cut the plastic yourself. Thats a pain in the ass to do neatly without access to some nice equip for it. |

The plastic piece is the base of the MyOpenPC test bench that I have for sale with this rig. It's jacked up in one corner using 2 HDD's because I had to remove the backing support, since it only has room for ~7 PCI slots on the back. However, this backing piece is also directly connected to the stand leg for that corner. Therefore, I had to find other means to keep this corner jacked up. just a note...
if u buy a 6990 second hand... you don't have any warranty with it.
so $700 for a video card that may die in a week.. month... year...
a bit much...

well i have a 6990 running at 960 Clock and it generates 425 Mh/s also have a 5870 running at 960 Clock generating 430 Mh/s a 5970 is just 2 5870s in 1... unless i'm wrong... darn i think we are hijacking this thread. Stock for stock, a 5970 will not give you the same hash rate as a 6990. Overclocked, it's not even close. Take it from someone who's owned both.
