Huge part of the brand new/newbies asking for loans get tagged as they don't read the rules, of course big part of them deserve the red tag as they most likely are scammers/beggers, but they just create a new accounts and start "fishing" again and again...
To avoid that a good solution is to restrict the access to the brand new/newbies to the section.

The benefits :
- No more "fishing" for loans from newbies
- Less work for the DTs
- To create account only to beg/scam there it will take you at least a month
- People who have no idea of the rules will have enough time to get know them before posting for loans.

Beside that fact that Lending section is used for negative purposes by a lot of people, it is actually to help the community with what they need on the basis of a valid collateral.
Now, we all know that most of the spam posts or phishing activities are done with new accounts, but what if there are some genuine users with new ranks which hold something valid to be used as a collateral and they are in need of a loan? Even if the restriction is lifted if you buy Copper membership, it would again require some money to do that.

Yes, this is beginning to be an issue in the lending section and in the goods/services sections as well.
It would be nice to restrict the access to these guys as they only spam and perform "phishing" activities.

but what if there are some genuine users with new ranks which hold something valid to be used as a collateral and they are in need of a loan?
Unfortunately that would be the exception rather than the rule.  In fact, the "rule" is written in one of the stickies on the first page of the lending section, and it more often than not just gets ignored, and that's the main problem in that section.  I don't look at the lending section as much as I used to, but when I was there frequently it seemed like nobody was offering valid collateral.  If they offered anything, it was usually physical items and those deals never seemed to get completed (not surprisingly).

The only good collateral for an online loan of crypto is altcoins, but most people would just sell those coins if they needed money badly enough to take out a loan.  Yes, there's an argument for why you wouldn't want to sell altcoins or tokens, but I think most people would just sell what they have rather than incur interest on a loan.

I often thought that the whole section should be done away with, as it seemed like there was so much wasted time there.  Looks like that's not going to happen, but I'd say as long as there are DT members like Vod who routinely patrol Lending we should be find.  If the noobs would read the stickies it'd be so much better.  Maybe there should be a pop-up with the collateral rules before being able to start a new topic there.  If people are starting threads to phish for suckers, it won't matter, but it would for legitimate newbies seeking legitimate loans.

I'm not interested in that section so I do not know a lot of rules about Lending but from the trust summary "of Vod [1]" I think the reason of negative trusts is "no collateral loan", not Newbie accounts.

Newbie asking for no collateral loan.

So I assume it's possible to get a loan even if your account is a newbie account. "No Collateral, No Loan"
The imposition of such restrictions will not have any effect.

There's no problem to be newbie and get a loan if you have a proper collateral but 99% of the newbies wringing there are just begging for money without even reading the local rules for the section and they do it over and over again just to scam someone. That's why Vod is patrolling there all the time.

OK, no need to be a total restriction, maybe just a warning message when you open a thread like in the securities section

OK, no need to be a total restriction, maybe just a warning message when you open a thread like in the securities section
If there are sections that need such "a warning message"[1]*, It will be [Invites & Accounts, and Digital goods ]" However, it has not received any attention from admins.[2]"
Therefore, based on the reasons/benefits you mentioned, I do not expect any change to occur.

[1] Avoid auto-buy links, mainly locked or self moderated. Register before dealing
[2] Request: Show default trust on Marketplace for guests (non-registered users)

* No warning messages have been added "only Sticky Topic".
