Altcoins: My Random Thoughts

   So for lack of a better category to post this, i'l post it here just to be safe. 4 months ago, I got into Quarkcoin excited about the prospect of an original altcoin. Long story sort, I sold all my quark and got into Dimecoin, lol I ended up accepting a job as the new "Dev". But lately I've been browsing the altcoin announcements and this question started bugging me. What the heck are we aiming for with 800+ different altcoins? Most of them are gimmickcoins that the devs are hoping to make some money off of. It's kind of sad really. We have attracted a whole new type of person to our cause. The get rich quick people, hoping that the coin that they have 100 million of will get them rich. (Dimecoin is no exception).
    I think that we are just confusing outsiders by having all these crapcoins using up bandwidth, and doing nothing to innovate cryptocurrencies. Honestly the only coins that people should seriously consider spending their time on are LTC, BTC, DOGE, Darkcoin, and of course DIME  Yea there are some other good ones, but I just pulled those 5 off the top of my head. What do you guys think? Gimmie some input

You've pretty much just answered your own question. People saw how much there was to be made from Bitcoin and wanted their own slice of crypto-success, only they'd missed the Bitcoin train so now they wanted not only their own slice of pie, but an entire cake to dish out to anyone who'd take it.

And I guess this could've just gone in the altcoin section, but it'd probably get buried quick.

There's no original altcoin left, they are all clones of each other and picking one is like throwing a dart at a dartboard, they are all inherently worthless. Before long there will be 300 of them listed on coinmarketcap.
