Yes, you are correct. Traders can use their FIAT to trade any listed coin.
Purchasing FNX is not necessary to trade.

But when using FNX for trading you can get discount on trading fee as below:

50% in first 6-month period
20% in second 6-month period
15% in second year
8.5% in third year
0% in forth year

Our exchange firstly launches in Vietnam on Aug 20. Round 1 of ICO begins on September 19, and Round 3 completion is October 12.
Trading will start 10 days after completion of ICO Round 3, on October 22.
