What's the point of setting launch date and time if you're not going to honour it, why are you wasting people's time?

Another coin where Devs have setup a own pool and DO NOT give other pools access to files to setup and test before launch ?!

Every successful coin needs good quality and many pools.
There is absolutely no reason why you deny other pools access to setup files before launch except to "protect" your own investment named a "official pool".
Please make up your mind... Create and support a coin, or Host a pool. But don't try to do both in this manner and call it a fair launch. Huh

Our pool will get the same treatment, no early access, everything gets set up on the fly just like everybody else.
If you can make a maxcoin pool, you can make a helixcoin pool. Transplant-able, just like scrypt pools.
Best of luck at launch Smiley

Launch date is approximately 23 hours and 45 minutes from now, 2/28/14 3:00PM, same as it has always been.
Im guessing you converted the time wrong?

You said maxcoin and jinxed the whole thing.

Expect a much smoother launch than maxcoin Wink

Again, can we expect the wallet at 1pm? 2pm? Or is it going to be a mad scramble at 3pm EST to download the wallet?

The wallets will be posted in password protected zips several hours ahead of launch. We have not chosen a set time, but it will be sufficient to avoid DL problems

At the last launch with these exact same rules (we all know the coin i'm talking about), the so called "official" pool did a download, Unzip, compile, config, test, and run all in 3 seconds!???
I like to hire that pool op, he must be super-op Wink

I asked Super-op, he says that it takes about 10 minutes to compile and be ready within minutes after that.
What do you want? a live stream of the pool setup? *shrug*

We can't! Because we don't have a wallet for this coin to test the setup, nor a good reason why we won't get it.

You might do things different, but the problem is we don't know because this launch and the reasons behind it are transparent as a concrete wall.
Still there is no good reason to keep pools in the dark and not let them get ready so miners can get started at the pool the prefer.
Our Email is open for any Dev that knows a good reason why we should not get these setup files pre-launch so we can prepare a better and more stable network with more pools.

U2 suc6 at launch.

I would guess the reason why they're not releasing that wallet right now is because the coin is "live" and they're busy premining that 0.16%. If they release the wallet, then the coin goes live for everyone. The password protection is there so that we can't use it until they want to go live with the coin...

maybe not 3 seconds but it really is that simple.. here's a hint, if you have a Maxcoin pool set up already then all you would need to do is download and compile the coind and then change a few variables in the config files run it .. and then boom... there's your helix pool

The best launch it to allow solo miner 5~10 minutes to solo mine which would spread the network over many computers and let the difficulty go up. Otherwise everyone piles into a pool and all of the network hash is mostly on one pool and it gets all forked up. Also half of the time when the pools get it early there is always that one pool that jumps the gun or they give it to their buddies so they can be already mining while the rest are just starting to download the source/wallets.

THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE.

Pools are getting added to the OP as time progresses as the best pool ops make the commitment to put in the effort.

and you other guys who know it is just a simple switch +1 the helix god smiles upon you.

Also by having an official pool we can ship configs that will work with the pool to help new people get on board with a newer algo.

So how would the batch file look for solo-mining on cgminer? I've never solo-mined before and would like to know how for this launch.  I have one 7950.

Run the wallet
make config and run wallet again and leave it running (if you use the solo special it autogens a config)
Using the keccak version of cgminer linked in OP:

cgminer.exe --keccak -0 127.0.0.1:(rpc-port-number) -u (rpc user set in config) - (password set in config)

optionally set your intensity from 4-14

Best of luck at launch Cheesy
