Hey! I just joined the BitCoinTalk forum and I am a total noob when it comes to Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency in general. This is just my was of introducing myself. I am aware of the recent drop in value of Bitcoin and the related problems with the Mt Gox exchange.

As unpredictable as the future of Bitcoin seems right now, (to me at least), I cannot see the Cryptocurrency as in as much trouble as any of the 'real' currencies out there. They are all 'fiat'.

I think Gold and silver are great, nonvolatile investments for uncertain times. But something like Bitcoin is exciting  Grin

So here I am, I hope to learn much and eventually be able to share as well.

Very good choice, cryptocurrencies are the future, some will deny it, some will fight it, but it's the truth.

It sure is exciting and it's always a wild ride. Sometimes people complain that not much is happening in cryptoworld and get bored when the price doesn’t rise and complain that their investment isn't magically exponentially growing, but then they cry even more when the price plummets. Just remember Bitcoin isn't the magical get rich quick scheme that a lot of naive newbs thought it was  Cheesy.

Gold and silver might not be too great in the short term, I was on a blog a day or so ago, and there's a nascent price fixing scandal forming around the London gold market, and silver is reckoned to be "too bullish" right now, i.e. the point where it looks like a bubble.

Anyway yes, real world currencies seem propped up by various artificial lashups that seem to be groaning under the strain at the moment, and volatile as it is, bitcoin might be a good hedge.

Welcome.
