I am currently getting 27mh from the out of the box card.

Can anyone suggest any settings / bios updates to increase this?

micron is for me the best memory for RX 580. All that i have are doing 32+. 27 stock seems bit high.

you have to get a bios. Try anorak.

You can mod your bios using Polaris bios editor.

Can't be a red devil 580 you are getting for a bios mod. Heard 31+ is the most.

Must be a Saphhire Nitro+ you are getting 32+ cause they usually have samsung memory and those are very powerful for overclocking after a bios mod.
The special editions are the best being out of the box because of the bios physical switch it has so you can not mess them up. These are the blue ones.

than flashing your cards with the downloaded bios from somewhere.

It's quite easy to do mod bios by yourself. Safer, and You'll have some experience in doing the same on the next cards. My RX 580 (micron) can reach 30 Mh/s without a mod, by the way.
