Its official finally. Only the name could differ. An official video suggests the card to be much powerful than the 1080ti. Can we expect a solid hashrate for mining? lot of hidden details in the video. ANN on Aug 20. Might be interesting.

Well yah, the new cores may help or hinder mining. Will have to wait and see. Expected to be 30 percent faster which doesn't always mean faster mining. Still waiting for that 70-80 mh ethereum card.

This +1, but to my mind as they see their cards are great for mining too, I highly hope their upcoming RTX 2080 will be great for mining + nvidia isn't company which sells GPUs cheaply, this is another bonus for them to sell GPU in high price and have high supply/demand. BTW curious is that when I google GeForce RTX 2080, google displays: Showing results for GeForce GTX 2080.

Besides mining performance, I'm interested in how the new dual-fan design on the RTX cards will perform on the FE 2080- I don't remember any dual-fan designs from Nvidia in recent times, hopefully temps will be better than with the Pascal FE cards. BTW curious is that when I google GeForce RTX 2080, google displays: Showing results for GeForce GTX 2080.
Most likely just people not noticing the subtle change from GTX to RTX, some of my friends called the RTX a GTX card as well, 'till I corrected them.

there is rumor it can clock to 2500mhz on core, wonder if it is just increase voltage, or process is better which gives better efficiency
either way probably not good time for gpu mining

Well, another gpu to look forward.. but still, i wonder the limit of this gpu. As far as i know, with the right setting, 2 piece 1080ti is equal with this one. Correct me if im wrong..

Dude, to get 2 times of your expected hashrste, i think u better get asic miner for eth like antminer e3, it give u better efficiency at power consuming and cost of rig. Correct me if im wrong.

My guess is that these 2080 cards won't hit retail until October at the earliest.

Nvidia could of not picked a worst time to announce this GPU.
Who knows. Maybe they will pump the crypto markets to get sales going for this GPU.
Because you gotta keep in mind that nobody will buy this GPU when they can just get 2* 1080Ti for cheaper which is more powerful.

That if they are targeting a crypto miner customers
not sure how far and how its worth on mining as compared to previous models and Asics
but definitely its designed for gamers
If pumps really happen, then I guess, they wanted to hand over this beast to us

Is it tho? What if there is a bull run like last year at the end of September? The release dates align perfectly with the previous years bull run. Nvidia is playing this smart. They are preying on the speculators and they may be able to trap a few in the coming days. Expect a lot of random figures being thrown around in the coming days. It will be all part of the hype train they are trying to build. Because you gotta keep in mind that nobody will buy this GPU when they can just get 2* 1080Ti for cheaper which is more powerful. 30% performance boost isn't significant, seeing it will have the $1000 Price Tag. The only thing I am interested in is the power consumption by the New RTX Series. 30% performance boost at current consumption would be a nice and a welcoming bump IMO.

If Nvidia has pushed these cards toward the gaming market they probably should have made these already available now that many people are still in holidays for a few more days before the school begins. Once school begins probably the sales will not be as big as Nvidia expects them to be but there will be miners out there wait for the new toy to play with.
For me if the price is 1000 or less and the hash rate is more than 80 mhs , I know dreamy expectation I will buy it, if the price tag is more, not worthy as you can buy 4 Rx series with 1000 now and make 120 mhs with bios mod. The only downside would be power consumption.
Too many ideas for now, let's see what is going to happen when the RTX series hit the market.

This cards will not be non-miner GPUs? I've read somethings like that before. Nvidia has a plan that differant series for gamers and miner. Gaming cards should be locked for mining. Maybe I remember wrong.

Yeah, me too. But that wont go in their way for sure. There are tons of dev out there who will find a way if that's the case.

RX Vega was first rumoured to provide 60-70mh. 😉 Asics aren't anywhere comparable to gpu's when you compare their longevity and resale.

Locking cards for mining would likely have repercussions elsewhere, as the calls and calculations used are also likely used in gaming and other applications like deep learning. It'd also slow down sales for Nvidia, even though mining profits aren't too good as of right now. Last time mining cards were released from Nvidia, sales likely weren't good, and the cards were much harder to obtain than regular cards anyways, as well as more expensive AFAIK. They may not be going with that route this time around.
