They apparently have a promotional program under way, giving away 250 satoshis (daily!) to anyone who signs up with them, along with a mix of other altcoins. There's also a referral program (ala the link above). I'm just wondering if there are any downsides or anything to beware of with such a promotion?

You are right, and I am sorry about that. I took a look at my balance page this morning and realized it was showing an accumulation of only 1 satoshi daily after the original 250 deposited. They also give out feathercoins and litecoins, and fedoracoins (TIPS) and something else I've forgotten. Not much, but every little bit helps I suppose.

That amount of BTC everyday, that is just junk dude.

During beta, the daily bonus is quite small (we know this). This is on purpose, because we've to make sure everything is working correctly, otherwise things can become very expensive very fast. After the beta we will be giving out much more every day. Although we don't know yet how much this will be exactly.

The most likely scenario is that in the coming days, weeks and months we'll be gradually increasing the daily amount when we're sure that everything is working correctly.
