I don't seem to be able to received bitcoins, I've installed the software and tried to get some free through the bitcoin faucet but none have arrived its been over 5 hours since I tried.

I run windows 7, anyone have any suggestions?

If anything I've said is vaguely useful feel free to show your appreciation

You need to wait until the block count in the lower-right corner of the Bitcoin client reaches the current block count. Right now that is 149866 (source).

3 suggestions in fact:

  • Whitelist Bitcoin client on firewall
  • Forward the bitcoin ports on your router
  • wait for the blockchain to finish downloading

I feel a little stupid now, had bitcoin for yonks but haven't run it recently so it hasn't caught up.
