Its a very promising project. The coin is based on Monero cryptonight protocol with a VPN marketplace. I have been mining the coin since June 2018. I also received an airdrop of 3000 LTHN through the team's twitter promotion. All the team members are very active and helpful through their Telegram and Discord groups. Its one of my favourite projects

Also, I wonder if there will be a better process for wallet updates in case of another major change to the blockchain? Just asking because for mainstream adoption, things need to be as easy as possible

cryptonight wallets are a bit heavy and clunky. but that has already been discussed. they are focusing on releasing the VPN 1st before anything but im sure they are already thinking about the next step. for the mean time you can always use a remote node from HV and other pools as well.

Small exchanges often drop coins out of support, they vanish, "delete" coins.
This can influence a lot on the the trustworthiness of the coin.

Not sure I understand your question, but you can buy Lethean coins on the exchanges, tradeogre for example. Or you can mine them.
