Hello guys,

I have been following ethereum classic for some time but I have never bought any of it.

Its trend is a bit different from the other alts, today it's like 20% up.

It's now 14 usd

Technically ETC is the same as ethereum, however they have less developers working on it.
Also, they so not have anything close to ethereum Enterprise alliance.  https://entethalliance.org/members-2/

Ethereum alliance is formed by the biggest companies in the world, such as bp, Microsoft, shell...

On the other hand, code is law in etc. It's a tamper proof blockchain, immutable, different from vitalik's blockchain.

Also, vitalik is having delusional ideas about bch, which I consider a bad sign:
https://cryptovest.com/news/vitalik-buterin-envisions-usage-of-bitcoin-cash-bch-at-convenience-store/

I am considering moving a small amount of my eth holding to etc...

What do you guys think about it?
I know you guys are mostly 100%bitcoin(which is probably the Best portfolio lol)

Basically ETH without all the rubbish "dapp" games on it, and autistik buterin.

But yeah Buterin's end game is still unclear to me. He now shills that bcash fraud... envisions government issuing (centralized) cryptos.. he's either a total twat or a government agent.

when I think of ETC the one and only thing that comes to mind is that it is - not ETH.

that's it. where's the innovation? what are they doing differently or better than ETH? what else did continuing on the original chain gift the world?

I agree that not giving up on immutability is a huge deal but that was now several years ago. I think it's pretty clear now that hardly anyone cares about real decentralization. they follow the dollars.

as far as i can tell all ETC is is another three letters you can trade in some big league places. that's cool. i personally would want more.

You answered your own questions with immutability. I personally think ETH is extremely overvalued, and the fact that new investments are being made by people that don’t care about decentralization should be seen as an opportunity to sell off these coins with no future and use your expertise to select ones with values and teams consistent with Bitcoin’s decentralized trustless vision.

ETC is a very solid project with a lot of potential. Any protocol improvements ETH implements can (usually) be easily integrated into ETC. ETC is one of the few projects IMO that follow the old spirit of the Bitcoin community and not the free lunch wave of 2013 and beyond. I have had some contact with the developers early on and they were receptive to suggestions.

If my memory is correct the ETC chain was renamed when ETH reversed a major theft:
Does supporting ETC help increase the value for the thieves who caused the fork, if they still own some? Does it still matter?

It's not a matter of increasing the value of thieves holdings or not.

When Vitalik"stole" the thieves coins , by doing a fork , this means that he controls the network

What is stopping him of doing this again with your coins?  He may fork the network again for some reason he thinks is fair and right, but that's against most of what Bitcoin community believe is right.

<Almost on topic>
Does anyone know if Vitalik has ever commented publicly about creating a monster (ICO's primarily based on ETH), since the "bubble game" has had such a huge impact which is often negative?

Hi, not looking to debate, at least not on this topic. Just curious about the subject and if my memory was correct, thanks.

I read some sad  news few days ago.

On ethereum classic official Twitter
Quote
ETCDEV
@etcdev
3 de dez
https://mobile.twitter.com/etcdev/status/1069625401515872256

Unfortunately ETCDEV cannot continue to work in the current situation and has to announce shutdown of our current activities

What are the implications of this to the project and the coin?  Their GitHub was recently hacked also..

Probably a dead project soon..?

Only one group of their developers decided to leave. They have at least 3-4 other groups of developers and for the time being they are going nowhere.
