Have read a dozen speculation on the situation at Mt Gox but they didn't hold water. That's until I came across this incredible piece of speculation from the /r/BitcoinMarkets community over at Reddit.

This is really one for the tin foil hat people - but it does explain all the facts logically which otherwise won't make sense  Undecided

Is it really that unbelievable?

Gox is such an epic fail of gargantuan proportions that it probably involves the Government in some way shape or form.

I would not be surprised if an agency or two comes out of this with a bloody nose and red-faces if they are caught messing with the honey-badger. A transparent ledger works both ways, no hiding behind legal lies ...

How true. This is one step short of actual proof!  Grin

It's all bullshit. But bullshit makes the flowers grow and that's beautiful.

It could be good news if you had a verified account and you weren't a top 10 Silk Road vendor.

Is this good news?

If this is true then it would solidify the claim the libertarians make. Essentially, the loss of people's saving and lives which were blamed on Gox would be now targeted on the Govt. This at a time when there are talks about fruitful regulations would make it more difficult.

It would also cast the joint statements from other exchanges in bad light. It would be like throwing Gox under the bus to increase their market cap.

I suppose the good news is that "the coins are not lost but temporarily unavailable".
