Professional trolls. 15,000 comments in 2 years. About 2 posts a day.  Not that hard to keep up but really what influence would they have?

This just in:  the NSA forced bitcointalk.org to lift restrictions on newbie accounts so that they could keep us all distracted while they took control of Mt Gox.

They're everywhere! *tinfoil hat* Grin

EDIT: Reddit news mods were recently caught red-handed deleting this story when it was posted, and engaging in other manipulations to make sure it didn't stay near the top.

Which, of course, isn't news, since they've been caught numerous times in the past censoring specific stories.

Haha, was gonna say that, but maybe he is just a professional troll. I wonder if the mods get paid over on Btc-e.

Probably or maybe the payment is the satisfaction of trolling others while being staff.

I try to remain optimistic about all of this, but...

Sam Spade: We were talking about a lot more money than this.
Kasper Gutman: Yes, sir, we were, but this is genuine coin of the realm. With a dollar of this, you can buy ten dollars of talk.

These people don't know what true trolling is.

The best troll posts are effective because there is an undeniable and often uncomfortable truth to them.  This makes them not only amusing but also often quite valuable to my way of thinking.  It also means that coming up with a good troll post takes some effort in terms of observation and creativity.

It is pretty well documented that there is an active and healthy campaign on the parts of various organizations to manipulate public perception by producing synthetic activity on forums.  There is even software which has been sold to corp/gov organizations which facilitate this by allowing one operator to marshal many personas.  It would be surprising if such a thing were NOT in use here on bitcointalk.org by this time, but most of the production possible out of this group of actors is not what I would consider trolling.  Or at least not very effective or 'good' trolling.

sig spam anywhere and self-moderated threads on the pol&soc board are for losers.
