Confused how to link cudaminer to run in a pool in linux

I'm trying to mine mintcoin with cudaminer (setup an benchmarked) to link to a stratum pool. I have no idea what the next step is. I read something about a .bat file but not sure how to write one of those. I'm using linux mint 16 kde, cuda-5.5, cudaminer-master, and a 460gtx. I want to run the miner in the background while i do my thing on my computer. Its usually running 14 hrs a day so figured I might as well mine in the background. Any help would be great since most info on the web is for cgminer (ati cards) an windows. I'm a newbie when it comes to mining so any help explained in lamens terms would be great.
