Just hold it. You'll likely lose it or lose out if you try invest it in something and don't know what you’re doing.

Don't invest. Bitcoin itself is an investment.
It's a currency first and foremost, but people are treating it as an investment, but like all investments, it's risky. People soon found out it's not the magical money making get rich quick scheme they thought it was with these recent crashes.

Up until Bitcoin will be used by the majority, it'll remain a risky currency with big price fluctuations, scammers in the community and so on...

In this early phase it's a currency and will be in the future. It also doesn't fluctuate. 1 Bitcoin is always worth a Bitcoin. What people pay for it in cash is another matter, and those people might be planning on it as an investment, but it's still first and foremost a currency. Scammers doesn't make it a big risk. Plenty of scammers in the real world scamming for fiat currency more than there is Bitcoin.

However, the value of 1 Bitcoin does flunctuate, because value is how much it is worth, as in how much items of some sort you can buy with it. How would you define the worth of every other currency in the world? It has to be compared to something at least. Regarding scammers, I guess it's a curse (and a blessing to some) of decentralization.
