Am I not getting this right ?
I mean ICO and token distribution and bounty all can be fake but how can airdrop be fake ?
Isn't it like a constant thing or is one time thing ?

I mean in both cases if you own a coin than you get airdrop of something else, if its fake you will sell the initial coin back, you are not paying for the airdrop, you are paying for a coin that will have airdrop like neo and gas, just get neo and if they don't give you gas than sell your neo ?

I think in the end if you are really betting on an airdrop than you probably researched it really well and you can probably understand if there is something fishy going around or not.

Not many of them are fake, it's just that their ICOs end up a failure. They're not worth the time doing them.

It is actually rather difficult to tell when an airdrop is fake or scam, most of the times you know that just after several months have passed and you didn't even get the rewards, also you could check the ICO project that is chained to the airdrop to see if they look reliable.

Best thing is to ask about airdrops in their telegram channels. Most of the time you will get a correct answer for those. Even the airdrop is a legit one, the rewards you get will be very very small.

I don't really like to participate in airdrop because most of them are scam and the ones that are not scam are worthless. But if airdrop go to the stage of asking you about your personal information then it is a scam and you shouldn't proceed with it.

If an airdrop is offering a ridiculous amount of money worth of tokens (think $1,000+) then it is likely fake. In fact, 99% of airdrops don't end up trading at the value they say they are worth. If you participate in an airdrop, do so with the knowledge that it will probably be worth one tenth of what they say the value is.

It's really very difficult to distinguish between a legit airdrop and a fake airdrop. I fill a lot of airdrops but what I do is to create a different login details to all those airdrops and the moment the tokens are dropped in my airdrop wallet, I quickly transfer it to my main wallet to avoid stories.

Whenever i'm trying to join on an airdrop, what i done usually is checking on the data of the project thoroughly. without doing that mostly you will end up  regretting somethig that we joined the scam airdrop.

I don't think it is such an easy thing to different between scam airdrops, and genuine ones. Sometimes, you have already participated in the airdrop and time has passed before you will even find out that it has been a scam all along. I think that the best we can do is to b careful out there, and not just jump on any project that we come across.

This TIP based only on my experience how to know if the airdrop is fake

Few months ago i encounter a fake airdrop using a TELEGRAM BOT.
An airdrop bot pretending as a real airdrop of a coin already listed on CMC

How i find out if they're scam or not?
First i search the name of coin on COINMARKETCAP from there i saw the legit website of that coin..
Second i search the TELEGRAM GROUP CHAT link from the WEBSITE of coin
Then i ask the ADMIN in TELEGRAM GROUP CHAT if the airdropbot i saw is legit or not and they said to me its not legit..the COIN that using airdropbot i encounter are using only the name of their coin.

Another FAKE AIRDROP i saw last month is BITAIR, BITAIR asking for selfdrop to buy their token
i search the BITAIR WEBSITE and i find it.i see the TWITTER account from there website
and i notice on there last post was november 2017 if im not mistaken, and bit air ico sale was ended last november.

Both of this type of airdrop are SCAM, I noticed they both collecting a member for their TELEGRAM CHANNEL and collecting FOLLOWER on their twitter account, And asking for selfdrop then dissapear after of ICO Sale.

I hope this post can help some NEWBIE to avoid to be a victim of airdrop with selfdrop SCAM SCHEME.

Any other tip on checking if airdrop is legit?
Mostly you have said all of the things that we have to do to try to determine if an airdrop is fake or not. I would like to point out though that this is not always going to work all of the time. Generally airdrops do not take a lot of time to do so the best thing you should just do is to do the airdrops, put your wallet address in and forget about it and move on

Quite useful information you have here, the most important thing is that we need to check on the project thoroughly, when we know that the project is real, then most probability that the airdrop will also be the real thing.

It's not 90% but it's more than 99% of airdrops are scam coins. remember EBTC that has become a scam project dude. This time there was a lot of problem in this space. So many people are still taking the shitty airdrop token with the hopes that they can sell or dump them all instantly in the market.

Bounty campaign is the best part to get altcoins. Just to get altcoin, you only have to see a credible manager's bounty campaign. At least by choosing a bounty campaign manager you will avoid from scam projects. At this time, I am not sure that any project airdrop will give someone a profit, most of those who have taken part with several airdrops end in regret. So, love your time and stay away from a few things that only give a hope.

The study of all aspects of present and of well-placed airdrop will take very much time.If you compare the time spent on this business and the potential profit in my opinion it is better not to do it at all.

Most airdrops now are fake, It's really very difficult to distinguish between a legit airdrop and a fake airdrop. I have filled lots of airdrops and gotten nothing or the ones I get don't worth anything. I stopped for a while now. To know a fake airdrop, most of them use telegram channels not groups.
