If you're thinking of giving someone access to your server to help you with that - don't. Massive security risk. You'll be better off if you spend some time learning to do it yourself. What TryNinja posted above seems to be a good guide.

Not if the one who's doing the job is a trusted member, that's why we have the trust system.
It could be a pain for a newbie to set it up if its really urgent.

Try to post a formal "hiring" thread in the Services board, better use an escrow service for the payment if you're not paying in advance.
You can easily find the trusted members using their trust rating, there are a lot of concerned people there who can warn you of possible scam attempts, of course, it's up to you.

Well, as I mentioned, it's up to him.
But Trust Rating is something that can strongly label a member "trustworthy", why do we even let escrow services hodl thousands or hundred of Dollars in their wallets in the first place?

There might be a reason why Mr.tome needed to hire someone, if that's the case, my suggestion is valid.
If he chose someone without integrity, it's plainly his fault and clearly not what I've suggested.

A busy teamleader who got his hands full of workload because he didn't have a team to begin with, looking for a cheap way to have his own node without troubling himself on getting funds to buy the costly hardware.
Where am I? Uh, also, the teamleader is actually just a front-end developer.

The easy way is to run a script who make the job for you https://github.com/joshmg/bitcoind

you all are making this too complicated.   ever hear of a snapshot?? just make one on your own vps and then sell or give the snapshot.  If you still need this done message me i could do this anytime this weekend. it may say noob next to my name, but been around for a bit now... but its because im not a fan of these forums. people forget how to use their thinkers on here so i try to avoid.

I second that. Don't give anyone the access to your server. Especially with an expensive asset like Btc.

If you are still interested, try to make use of SSH RSA keys for logins instead of passwords and try to use something like Teamviewer or Ammy to give access to the logged in terminal (like PuTTY). This way your server would be secured and if you watch the professional do the setup you might learn a thing or two.

Also, do not host any masternodes on the same instance of your cloud vps where you're hosting your BTC wallet.

Hiring any dev op/developer to work on Bitcoin projects is always going to be a partial risk (let's face it, for the most part, we need access to critical infrastructure), but that doesn't mean you shouldn't hire developers. Just properly vet them first (as you would any employee you hire).

I do offer programming/system op services, so if you require it, send me a PM. But, do try it yourself. You'll save yourself a lot of BTC in the long-run, plus it's an awesome skill to have.

ok i will agree there are risks. but if password changed and root privilege only accessible with password, they would be minimum. biggest threat would probably someone trying to hide kiddie porn... now thats PRETTY BAD but easily remedied. disgusting.. sorry.. but im running thru viruses and scripts i can think of, and nothing is really coming to mind without having root. now this is under the assumption that they can at least make a profile to work under and not logged in AS root.

now that all being said..  everyone is right.. it is best to do it yourself.. there are numerous youtube vids and walkthroughs.  if getting to a part that is confusing or its not working im sure they people here wouldnt mind you contacting them on specifics questions.. i have  a walkthrough i did for one of my projects building on a pi.. its pretty similar...i mean of course you wouldnt do the first part.. if you try it and get confused i can edit one for you to fit for vultr or digital ocean.

I know the consesus is to tell the op to do the installation himself... But since his question was if somebody was able to install bitcoind for him, i just wanted to say that, yes, i can install bitcoind for him if he wanted to. I could probably also walk him trough the process step by step without actually logging in to any of his machines.

Not the best idear to give somebody access to your machine, but if he's just running a node to be part of the community and not to actually use as a wallet, i don't see a lot of problems with this... He can just give somebody (for example: me) an unprivileged account to a clean VPS, install all prereq's himself and afterwards change the account's password, remove the wallet.dat and restart the daemon and check the checksum of all installed binary's...

Now, if the OP is actually thinking about using his node as an actual wallet to keep some of his funds, i'd agree with every body else's advice: it might be better for the OP to install bitcoind himself.
