Scammers Threaten Cheating Husbands, Ask for Bitcoin
The Daily: Husbands Blackmailed for Bitcoin, Blockchain This and ThatThe U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has recently issued a warning about new scams involving cryptocurrency: fraudsters have been sending letters threatening to reveal cheating husbands to their wives and relatives unless they are paid thousands of dollars in bitcoin (BTC). The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) says there’s been a significant increase in the number of extortion attempts of this kind.

Nothing special.

This is just similar to those reports about scammers threating for those who do have videos in front of their pc having a camshow and sending out email and this one is just having the same
motive where they do tend to extort for those victims and this would be unlucky for those cheating husbands. If you do know that you aren't involve on such thing then you can simply neglect it but if you are
guilty then you will end up on paying up the ransom for sure rather than messing your life.

Go ahead, blackmailers. I hope some of these "victims" report this and set up stings with enforcement. No better way to track these blackmailers than to use Bitcoin. Watch the addresses, spring the traps when they cash out. Anyone that still actually thinks Bitcoin facilitates anonymous transactions and criminal activity needs to understand how easy it can be to track transactions on a public blockchain. At least, until Bitcoin development moves on from scalability to privacy... Schnorr, Taproot, etc. Be a couple more years at least until that properly happens though.

Something like that was in Mr. Robot's first season. Nobody actually protected from such "private lefe watching", so it is no matter what currency scammers want for their blackmail, crypto or fiat. Bitcoin is simply more modern.
