The idea is well-known. The act is secret.

Or buy a book about Java?
I've bookmarked several guides I've found through google and pirated 3 books. They were either out-of-date or unclear. I'm here to find a recommended alternative. I want somebody to tell me what they genuinely think is the best.

I want somebody to tell me what they genuinely think is the best. Perhaps you could ask it on a dedicated forum or wait until someone with enough knowlegde comes here. I'd say read the books/guides/tutorials, then try to program a bit and try to acomplish your goal step by step.

Seeing as you obviously don't know the difference between Java and javascript you shouldn't give any advice on this matter whatsoever, not even to buy a book, because if he follows your advice he will buy the wrong book...

He should do this project in Haskell or Assembler instead of javascript. It would be much better for the community if he did.

Are you a neckbeard or a hipster? He doesn't like those. Anyways, this has to be said. I'm tired of hipsters dogging on practical work. It's about what people use and want. Licenses, time-tested libraries and neckbeard-wisdom can go fuck all. If it's usuable software and if people want it -- that is all that matters. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=49302.msg587016#msg587016

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

If you're looking at books on Java, then that's why you're having issues. Java and Javascript are two completely different beasts. They're sufficiently different at times that it's just easier to pretend there's zero relation at all, and treat them as differently as you would PERL, because any time you assume something's going to be the same it's going to turn around and bite you in the arse.
Java != Javascript, if you pick up a book on Java when you're trying to learn Javascript you'll come away with a headache. Unfortunately I can't recommend any books on Javascript, as I've only dabbled with it and not sufficiently enough to warrant buying a book for it.

I was given this link by a professional programmer. It's a great link, and you can find some good reviews and tips from there.
