I guess now we will forever be told Lockerbie was bombed by a middle aged Libyan civil servant who moonlighted as a terrorist and that Gaddafi was as innocent as the day is long Gaddafi surely was not a saint. Lockerby (if true) was one of the least of his crimes. I wonder though what people here think of his final moments and whether or not he should have been arrested and put on trial?

In theory he should have been put on trial. But in theory he should have been arrested by an army, not seized by a mob of people without no uniforms and captured weapons. In practice, it was total anarchy and he was in the hands of armed civilians that his forces had been killing literally up to an hour before. I'm sure some young militiamen will eventually be tried for killing him but whether or not its justice is another matter.

I know that probably many of Qaddafi's victims went through worse, but because he is high profile, this is one of the rare times where you get to see exactly what happened. It just bothers me that human beings can act like this. I doubt that I'd feel differently about his treatment if my family was victimized by him. But at the end of the day, I dunno. I'm an atheist but I feel compelled to say, god help humanity. Miliions of years of evolution and it doesn't seem that we are that civilized. Dogs do not even act like this.

No - he was a dictator because he believed that allowing people to vote was wrong. They are not savages - they are civilians who were forced to take up arms for their own survival. It takes a lot of training to prevent Western soldiers committing war crimes and even with that training bad stuff still happens. To expect a higher standard from a ragtag militia is hypocritical.

Look, I'm against violence. There are other ways to depose someone from power. Killing is the way of the weak and the savage. I'm all in favour of people being free, but I will not cheer up murderers, doesn't matter how bad a character the murdered person was.

Look at the video - the guys don't even have uniforms. They are under fire the entire time. There is a difference between ordinary people who have taken up arms to protect themselves from slaughter and murderers.

Not exactly the whole picture. What I have a problem with though, is whole families who masturbate in front of their TVs/computers while watching someone get tortured. Humanity... Where I grew up, saying "Gaddafi was killed by civilians who were forced to take up arms for their own survival" would be as much of a conspiracy theory as writing in this forum that he was assassinated by secret services. Of course I had also witnessed people who masturbated in the same manner while watching WTC buildings go down.

Its not part of the Libyan lifestyle I've heard of before.

Haha, good one. In case you're not joking, I'm talking about the western society. Sorry for writing like an idiot, I'm just pissed.

Oh. So you imagined it? Ugh.
Here, people were driving around in convoys, honking. That's a type of jerking off in my book. Though writing "good riddance" messages on forums about an "evil dictator" you didn't know about a year ago and rating each other +1 counts as masturbation as well. Present company excluded.

I didn't watch the video, but people no doubt are driving around in their convoys honking and probably shooting guns in the air precisely because that's the culture there - and all of whatever you're seeing is because Gaddafi created an environment for that kind of stuff. Go mourn someone who matters, like a 20 year old girl walking down the sidewalk in the U.S. who got run down by some irresponsible 18 year old hot rodding his souped up car. Honestly, if you've only known about Gaddafi for a year, then you're the one who's pontificating about morality when you shouldn't be. I personally have been aware of Gaddafi for probably at least 25 years. Nobody liked him then either.

Sometimes, true change only comes through violence. You are too damn naive.
