Hey I have an HD6870 and am mining vertcoin (so the kh is half of other coins I believe)

So far, I can get 100kh with the following settings:

vertminer.exe --scrypt-vert -o stratum+tcp://xxxxxxxx -u xxxx.xxxxx -p x --thread-concurrency 4480 -I 13

If I turn up my intensity, I can get it up to about 140 but the GPU gets way too hot (like 80-85 degrees)

Others have suggested that I play around with the thread concurrency in multiples of 64 but if I put anything other than 4480 in, my speed drops to 18kh

I tried it at the following tc levels and every one of them drops the speed top about 18kh:
5760, 6400, 8192 ,6720

Also, sometimes I notice after I close and start up the miner later that even my 4480 (that I get 100kh) with will drop to 15-18 until I restart my computer.  Unfortunately, trying these other thread-concurrencys after a fresh restart doesn't do anything to raise the kh

I am confused why this happens to even my good settings and if its related to my issue of other tcs never getting over 20kh.

Any advice on this or how I can get it more up to the 125-130 range while keeping my GPU temp down would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Heya,

I like you was having some issues getting things going. I have both a Sapphire R9 270 and an XFX HD6870. My biggest issue was the 270. still have not gotten that straight ye. I think more can be squeezed out of it than the 210Kh/s

For you though, the 6870 I have going is running at 140Kh/s to 150Kh/s average. I am also not getting Any HW errors at all and it has been running for 26 hours now.  The first thing I would have to say is to download "thekev vertminer" from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=466867.0

This solved quite a few issues for me, as the 0.5.3 was not letting my cards really work as they should (270 issues)

here is the Bat

@echo off
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
COLOR 0C
timeout /t 4
vertminer.exe
pause

and here is the Config

as You can see above, the rawintensity setting is a large number, but it seems to work without any issue. I have the gpu sitting at stock settings with the exception of the fans being pushed to 100 to keep it cool. GPU settings are gpu = 900 mem=1050. May play around with an overclock once my new case fans arrive. Also Note that the worksize is at 128. it can not be higher for the 6870 I have found. The Miner will not start if it is. Also with the random low hashrates, I have that issue as well sometimes. I generally just Logout of windows and log back in and all is good again. I do not thing it is an uncommon issue.

Hope this helps some. I am still playing with it, but the hashrate is not bad at all I think for a 6870
