I live in Northern Canada and built a solar array however I ended up putting in way too much power. I'm producing around 20,000 kwh per year and use no where near that. I have been banking about 1,000kwh a month extra and must use it within a year after I produce it or the electric company keeps it and I get nothing. This is a grid tie system. So I need to burn some electric and I'm looking for the best way to monetize it. The 2 options I can think of is a large greenhouse (I live on a farm 400 fruit trees and acres of berries so this is not an exciting option for me as I'm already farmed out) or build a small mining farm to eat through some electricity and create some heat. The heat is very welcome in Northern Canada.
It seems that I have come in at a confusing time in mining. With the new GPU's coming out and FPGA making an appearance I have no idea what the best option would be or even if mining is an option at all. I have been around crypto for some time however this is my first look into mining and my heads spinning. I have a wide open garage to set this up in. I have the free power. I need the heat. Even with all this going in my favor from what I have read by the community here has me all but talked out of attempting this as it seems to be the wrong time to start something like this.
I know any advice you give me may potentially eat into your profits so I thank you in advance for any tidbits your willing to share.

https://imgur.com/a/EUGGQB9ok so you are located on a farm, the heat is a big plus and you have some free electricity to burn? That sounds like a dream config to me.
ATM all I can think of is that you still can go with greenhouse and grow some one year cultures under the heat produced by miners, plus gain some coins.
But if I read it correctly you have 1000Kw per month which is about ~1.2Kw per hour right?
you can go with one S9 and instead of only calculating ROI by mined coins you can calculate the ROI from the heat it generates and cultures you can grow under it. In fact it's not much but you can do it for fun and who knows it may come handy in the future.
