I have recently been involved in an investment scam and was part of a group of 150+ investors.
We sent BTC to a specific address but, there were at least 3 others used as well.
In addition, one of our group believes they've found a 5th BTC address, which appears to be holding a pooled amount, which is still there - about $1.9m.
Does anyone have any experience of tracing bitcoin?
What can we do to get it back or access it?

As BTC is complety SAFE and ANONYMOUS, there is no way to get one back, when handed over.

I guess you have some data about person/company you and others send money? Only way to trace this BTC and possible return is to report all to the police, with all the possible evidence. This is the only way to get your money back, but it will not be easy or fast - especially if other side is taken some steps to hide the traces (Use of Tor,VPN, false physical addresses...)

To prevent more people become victim from this SCAM it would be good to open new thread in Scam Accusations using Scam Report Format.

. maximum you can find the destination address apart from that there is no use for having the funded wallet address. You will not be able to find the person or his location and all.
Since the Bitcoin transaction is so anonymous at the market.
There is no possibilities to get your money back simply be careful in your next investment.

Unfortunately the only way of getting your coins back is to link the addresses to a real identity.
This can happen through law enforcement agencies and their IP's or through any other sources.
Without this, the chances are pretty low.

Regarding the tracing, did you check whether the address which 'might be part' of the scammers one does have transactions related to the known scammer addresses ?

As BTC is complety SAFE and ANONYMOUS, there is no way to get one back, when handed over.

Bitcoin is NOT anonymous, not at all. BTC is pseudonymous.

Addresses can be linked together building entities with traces in between of them. Proper chain analysis can definitely gain knowledge regarding transactions happening on the blockchain.

no one can, even the police are also confused when tracking criminals who conduct transactions with bitcoin to buy drugs or other illegal items.
the thing you have to do now is to report your case to the police, maybe they can find traces of the perpetrator

I agree with you, how could they send that big amount of bitcoin to someone? There are many scammers on the web right now and there are many people who doesn't know anything about the cryptos. There are no names or addresses just your bitcoin wallet number thats all. So you can't take back anything..

there is not much you can do, groups like this have been around for a long time and they have enough experience in scamming people and not getting caught that they have so far gotten away with it.
and the worst part is that people who get involved with these groups already know they are scams so they expect being ripped off which is why nobody usually pursues these types of scams.

in any case if you are really serious about it check out walletexplorer and their parent company chainanalysis.com for more information.

That's a lot man! And there is no known way of tracing it thus far. The only way to get it back is if you know the person personally. Scams do happen even if we think that bitcoin is safe. Lesson learned there I hope.

You can keep tracing the trail of transactions that will (presumably) follow (exit scam). The only difficulty would be tracing the owners/people who control the private keys to the address. I wouldn't be surprised if they'd use a mixer to try and throw people of their tail. The only hope you have is if they slip up somehow. Sorry this happened to you. It gives both BTC and humanity a bad name.

its immposible to trace your bitcoin anymore, you can trace it until the bitcoin address, but you wouldn't know about the owner of that adress, because the benefit of blockchain is anonymously that makes bitcoin is very secure and anonym

the lost bitcoin can't come back again, we can only identify and see transaction evidence in each block. legal transactions or illegal transactions.

stolen bitcoin happens often, hackers have many ways to steal bitcoin, and we have to be careful about every pishing website.

I don't like stolen bitcoin because it is not good. It is very bad and if you used it their is no value because it is not worthy to used.

no, maybe this can be our experience. that if it concerns our bitcoin address in detail, it's quite dangerous too. because they are eyeing that.

I don't think any latest upgrade of blockchain has enabled transactions tracing. So with this I don't think you can trace and reverse a already sent bitcoin from the recieved address. Once sent, it's gone forever.

I don't think it can come back again, because the bitcoin that has been sent cannot be canceled, you should be careful and avoid fraud.
