It is a very clean coin and might be worth sending back in for a chance at 70. I have not seen any MS-70 grades given for a long time though... I wonder if the few that exist are flukes. |

Most of the laser-edged holograms are cut off-center or applied at a slight offset/skew on the coin itself (noting the 4 raised notches meant to align it) |

IMO the symmetry of the laser melt ring is worth considering when grading these coins, but I doubt any of the coin grading agencies even look at the sticker placement, let alone the melt ring. Every now and then you see a coin with a perfectly symmetrical melt ring, but I’d guess probably 25% or fewer coins have it. Shame to be necroing this ancient thread like this |
