Anyone can make constructive posts if they actually care about having real discussions instead of only focusing on ranking up, joining bounties or making the minimum amount of posts to get paid on a signature campaign.

Yes, in that case you will not get any merit. Merit is basically an idea to restrict users from rank promotion. Ppl don't have merits so they can't sent it.

well merit isn't a human right so, as you said, if you're not good at 'constructive' posts then you can't get merit.
but 'constructive' is a broad term, you don't need to be an expert about crypto as a whole just to earn some merit! clearly there's one type of comments that is for the purpose post count/advertising, people who just post in large spamthreads with 500 pages, there's no merit from that.

you don't need to chase merit, you will earn some if you reply to topics that are interesting to you, since you can actually contribute in some way I think.. there's lots of forum categories here so I'm sure you can find one that is of interest.

I believe it comes with time. I am a newbie, too. Trying to learn more and more from the discussions and asking questions myself helped me understanding the whole network better. While learning you are already earning, no need to gain anything "countable". Also all the good things come to an end so try to go every step with confidence and knowingly that everything has an end...

You are absolutely right. But do not despair, not everything is lost yet.

Try to find something that you can do for this community. A lot of different topics are raised here every minute - just find those you are interested and well versed in. If there are no such topics - go the long way: choose a question and make a research first. Become useful. You will learn something new, give a good answer and help this forum a lot. People will appreciate your contribution and you will receive merits (if not, then at least you will get some knowledge in crypto). Not the quickest solution, but fair.

Good, You need few points to start.
1. Read , In this forum and may be outside.
2. Filter, Not everything is good, read from reliable sources only and stop reading speculative threads and mega spam thread.
3. Book mark the good content
4. Do not chip in any discussion if you have no knowledge of it.
5. If you got the topic in which you have knowledge , then write your views, articulate them , if required give proper references.
6. Avoid spelling mistakes and re read your post before posting to ensure that sentences are coherent.
7. Avoid Copy pasting others articles , it can bring permanent ban.
8. If you do not have anything to add in the topic in discussion, then move on. No points/Merit for repeating the things.

Ok, Still there is no guarantee of Merit but I think you will evolve with time  and feel good by doing things correctly and may be you will start getting merits for writing good answers when you are even not expecting them.

Don't think how to get higher rank. Just enjoy beign here, discuss, help others, merit will come by itself.

Don't try too hard so that your participation doesn't come across as forced/fake. You need to be genuinely interested in the subject you're posting about. Preferably knowledgeable as well, at least to the point where you can ask a reasonable question. If there is anything that you're good at IRL - you can start with that, or something that's close to it. There are boards and threads on this forum for just about anything.

However you should avoid generic mega-threads like Token goes down. Wait or sell? - you have no chance to earn merits on such a "yes/no" thread, particularly on page 113. Anything that could be said on that topic has already been said and I bet your annual bounty earnings that you didn't read the thread before posting in it.

Well, as said, I don' t see the merit system as a design based on the people to get obsessed with. But your question seems to be related to how do you can improve your posting behaviour, so there is a solution, of course. Just keep in mind that, even if you try hard to make a constructive post, you maybe will earn any single merit, so just chill and do not be obsessed with it.
Now, there is a project founded by a senior member here called Fit to Talk. In there, the people with poor English skills -like you or me- are helped and also encouraged to create good posts. You always can join it if you are honestly trying to improve yourself - I have to insist, merits are a secondary asset, it musn' t be your primordial goal, ok?-. Merits are such a subjective conception. This is not any magic formula but common sense and respect in order to get some, though. So just learn some English if you are going to use for your writings and read a lot here. The most time you spend reading, the bigger the opportunity of understanding and caring about the Forum you will have. I'm sure that everybody truly interested has his/her place in here. It is just a matter of patience.

I'm only just learning about what merit is for, and I really don't see what the big issue is.

I joined up to learn more about cryptocurrency and I don't need merit to do that! Promoting some random coin through merit signatures (I think that's how it works) shouldn't really be that much of a priority

merit was added as rank requirement to stop low quality posters from ranking up
noone forcing you to contribute to forum, feel free to read up as much as you want
if you do want to take part in discussions, make sure you're not doing it just for the sake of merit/rank

Their answers will be served as your motivation to earn MERITS through posting useful content and be helpful to everyone. Remember don't use too much of your time on earning merit as it will be the reason that you won't earn merit. Earning lots of merit won't make you an expert of cryptocurrency.

Too many people here obsess over Merit.

What i'd say to you is it is absolutely possible to gain recognition here even if English is not your first language. Just this morning Coolcryptovator made a post that explained that he does not speak English too well, and that's fine! What they have done is made the effort to learn in their spare time to become a better poster, and by at least attempting to give it a go.

Another newbie in this thread is Helana who already has 7 merits and only been here a very short time. Another person who admittedly does not speak great English but is taking the necessary steps to try and correct that.

All i'd say to the OP is....forget about Merit for now! You've already identified your issue (your English not being great) so take the steps to correct that, if other people are doing it then i'm sure you can too, and i sincerely hope you do.

Just post as it never existed (same is valid for the sign. campaigns) if you have something to say which has not been said before, then it's worth to post, otherwise to you just piling up useless comments to reach your sig. campaign goal, and when someone check your post history, there you go, you actually are a shitposter, and it's only your fault.

So the merit has nothing to do with the constructive posts. See how many "constructive" threads for hundreds of useless subjects are flooding the forum and they still complaining why they don't get merit.

You can write 2 words and get 20 merit for it if they are the right words on the right thread, or you can write a novel and still no one will pay attention it.

So post only when you feel like to post not because you have the obligation to earn merit/money or reach some campaign goals.

Even better, stay away from the signature campaigns for a while and see how you gonna post if nobody is pushing you to do it.

I agree, you don't need to be a expert, even helpful posts may be enough to earn merit, it is not all about tech in the forum.

I am not focused on aftering merits, just trying or doing my best to interact with the forums of my choice and still doing my best on it.  Merits come if we deserve it.  I may suggests you can do the same.

You see when it comes to merits its not about your own evaluation but the people who are reading your posts. Several times I have made posts that based on my opinion, should attract merit but it won't happen while at the same time the ones I don't expect, I get merit that I will have to go through my merit history to have an understanding of which of my post actually earn the merit. So, do your bit on the minimum. I have seen a one line post earn a legit merit.

Another worthy to add is that, its not only posts that people have earn merit for. Some people have added value on the forum either by bursting some scamming behavior, doing some analyses of forum statistics, campaign managing effectively, engaging in legitimate business activities etc. Put all these together, you can get merit without having to be 100% coming from posts.
