For that to happen the blockchain of bitcoin needs to get a lot more quicker and not get jammed as soon as it gets certain amount of interest. Right now even today we are paying too much for smaller numbers, like buying a 99 cent thing online with bitcoin could be really a pain in the ass so thats really not a great way to be the online worlds dollar.

Indeed, that is the condition of the current cryptocurrency world.
Every altcoin always looking up to anything that happened to Bitcoin, when ever the bitcoin rise, the alt coin will be following and vise versa.

I think a stable coin like USDT and TruUSD will be better to be considered as online reserve currency because they are not volatile like Bitcoin and other altcoins. A reserve currency should be very stable and Btc is not.
