Sometimes there are people who claim that the Facebook social network can be downloaded to the blockchain as a distributed application. They believe that the blockchain-project, which they have in their favorites, can be used to place a social network on it. The most important thing: the delivery of messages should be instantaneous or with a reasonable delay of not more than a few seconds. What's the point in a retarded application? At the same time, the price of each transaction (and in the case of messaging one user makes hundreds of such transactions every day) will be prohibitively high. And the whole messaging system will become useless. Recall that now the exchange of messages in Facebook and other social networks is completely free. Users are not ready to pay for messages on the Internet, this is the whole point of the Internet!
How do you like the idea? Is it real? Would you use it?

It wouldn't make much sense to upload Facebook to the blockchain. We already have some alternatives like Steemit with no censorship and you can make some profit from writing posts on it.

Why would someone use a Social Network that costs them money? That doesn't make any sense to me. Besides, the network would never be able to take the load if all the messages sent every minute are sent in the blockchain as transactions. We have already seen some very big network jams in the past due to high number of transactions which were in thousands, and if those transactions are in billions, I doubt the network would even be able to move for a sec.

in my opinion some sort of centralization on these types of social media platform is needed so that some authority can manage things and prevent the platform from turning into a spam fest! imagine a decentralized facebook where everyone could post anything anywhere they wanted. it would be filled with spams of all kinds like refereal link spams, scams,...
it is possible to do. steem tried it and failed because they ended up centralizing the platform itself.

If it gives considerable changes on how one uses the platform then it will be a hit. However knowing the scandals of Facebook regarding data handling, no matter what form or how innovative they can be with the blockchain technology, it still isn't really appealing for those who want more privacy over their personal information. It is possible for them to use or integrate blockchain into whichever application they deem fit because of their great engineers but what bothers me is if there will still be a data security breach from the inside knowing the recent scandals about Facebook and Cambridge Analytica.

Maybe this time they will try to take into account their mistakes. Now, to keep an eye on them after all. True?

Interestingly, in reality, how much do they need for years to implement the blockchain system?

Firstly, is it even possible for a user to download facebook ? The Admin sould surely have the access but then the information of millions of people would make it a huge amount of data and hence this won't be possible and feasible for it to upload on the blockchain. If you mean to say that is it possible to create an application similar to Facebook and then upload it to blockchain or if it is possible to create a social media website over the blockchain then yes it is possible and there are already projects developing such platforms.

Interestingly, in reality, how much do they need for years to implement the blockchain system? Obviously they'll start from a scratch so we can't conclude yet but it's gonna be a challenge for Marcus' team. Yet something is still boiling up, so if they gonna use the blockchain which I know is an open ledger, how we can be sure that all the data is safe when blockchain can be encrypted the data storage. We can recall that some panel in US had interviewed Mark Zuckerberg about this and yet he ain't so sure.

I think conversations on Facebook and on some social media will always be free even though using blockchain technology, of course with blockchain every conversation will generate profits, this is not about the time or fee of conversation.
but the blockchain system can record each of our activities in a block. it will not be easily hacked and the kriptonya value will benefit the media.

This is a great idea and I like it, but I think it will never happen because then Facebook will not be able to ban users that it is not pleasing, as it is now.

I don't think there is time to associate between Facebook and blockchain. I prefer to use Facebook according to the site. if it's free, why should it be paid. it's just a waste of money, time and energy. just enjoy the existing features, it will be better. and that's my personal opinion.

a lot of things are possible to do, including all the things you can do using the blockchain technology but only being possible doesn't mean it is a good idea to do or those who do it end up with a useful thing. for example you can multiply 2342342342342 with 8987897385734 by hand but you can also use a calculator. similarly you can use Facebook as your social media platform or you can use a decentralized version of it which you would have to install a new application (run a full node) download a lot of data and be restricted to limited platforms (PC not mobile for instance),...

As far i know it is possible but it will become totally a waste because there no need to upload face to the blockchain.

Lolz....the design won't be like how you think of above....a message can just be hash(sign) with your receiver public key then send in a seconds in a less cost fees and fast manner

Can the payment be transferred to advertisers? Yet Facebook has recently focused on promoting advertising through its network. Then there can be no such problem? And ordinary users will make the most of all the benefits of Facebook
