I do ear that with pooled mining and 24/7 pc turn on you can earn about 0.01BTC per day. But in terms of electrical power bill how much would cost that 0.01 BTC per day? (consider you keep your cpu full throttle even through rush hours)  Huh
Someone did tests?

Mining 24/7 is only profitable if you're running a GPU with a high kHash/s-to-mW ratio. I wouldn't recommend CPU mining with the intention of having it be profitable. Spend $150 on an ATI card and you'll make a small, but decent profit.

At what speed are you hashing and with what hardware if you don't mind me asking? Just curious cause I get about the same.

i have slightly  overclocked 5970+5870 in dedicated mining rig that runs 24/7 consuming ~550W
(corsair pro 850W + celeron e1200 + 1gb ram on some cheap gigabyte mobo - 5870 is connected to pcie x1)

power consumption is around 400 kWh per month and cost me around 80 euro

not sure how much exactly i have from that unit as i have 6950 in my desktop running as well in the same pool
but my guess is around 400BTC per month

6950 in my desktop that is usually runing miner only during night as it serves few other purposes too
(not sure about power consumption, but it is in 350W+ area)

First you said you see 4 BTC a day in your pools... now you said you see 400BTC a month, so I assume you see BTC from elsewhere (solo?) because that math doesn't add up...

Slightly offtopic, but I was just thinking that some people probably steal electricity from their employers (run miners in the background at work).

I don't do this as by the way as I'm self-employed and work from home!

But I am curious if any employee-types would admit to doing this.

At most companies, work computers aren't that great. I'm saying people would most likely have to do CPU mining on machines that may not have had their hardware updated since 2005 or something. Besides that, the company would detect a lot of IRC traffic, wouldn't they? Probably not worth the trouble of getting caught for just a few Mhash, if that.

But I'm sure some people are doing it anyway. Might as well have the computer do something if it's going to be on all of the time, they might say. And if you're lucky enough to have Radeons in your work computers, then all the better.

Not if the user was running a pool miner, or the 'shy' client.  The clients don't need to bootstrap with IRC, it just makes initial connections to the network quicker upon startup.  If someone was running a client 24/7, IRC would become irrelevant after a couple hours.

"The powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent meetings and conferences. The apex of the systems was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world's central banks which were themselves private corporations. Each central bank...sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world."

- Carroll Quigley, CFR member, mentor to Bill Clinton, from 'Tragedy And Hope'
