You know him as the lover of goats, ümlauts and scam busting, under screen names YuTü.Co.in, Gleb Gamow and of course Phinnaeus Gage, probably the most prolific poster in the history of the forum, reviled by some and revered by many. I sat down with Bruno (well not really with him, but we were both sitting down at our respective computers thousands of miles apart) for an interview about what makes him tick, his thoughts on bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, and some of his favorite scams he's come across in his days as a member of the forum, which dates all the way back to 2011.

I had personally been a fan of Bruno for quite some time, following his antics on bitcointalk since 2013. He is a man of ups-and-downs, a personality to be reckoned with; some days being your average human being with access to the internet and others capable of upending fraudulent empires. Love him or hate him, Bruno is a cornerstone of Satoshi's other great contribution, this very forum.

Here's a sample from the interview:

CC: A couple weeks back we wrote an article about the origins of Satoshi Nakamoto and floated across the idea that bitcoin may have been developed by the secretive hedge fund manager James Harris Simons. Admittedly that theory was inspired by you. In addition to the fact that he’s obviously a very smart man with an NSA background and famous for his ability to put together capable teams of talented individuals, what else leads you to believe that Simons is a candidate for being Satoshi?

BK: His penchants for secrecy first comes to mind. Then, it all centers around money, of which hedge funds and the like need a constant and new source of influx. Enter cryptocurrencies. First, you acclimate the populace to the new ideal as you set the stage within “The Law” on Wall Street, exactly what we’re seeing now in virtually real-time.

CC: Speaking of Wall Street and the law, do you have any particular take on what will become of the Bitcoin ETF? Is it a sure thing, or not, or not relevant to bitcoin’s continued success?

BK: I honestly think it’ll become a reality, and a good thing for the space, especially for the powers that be assuming, of course, them powers that be [in the shadows] exist… I don’t believe for a second that some one dude using the name Satoshi Nakamoto created Bitcoin, forfeited his fortunes, then disappeared … all for the betterment of mankind. I reserve the right to amend said sentiment if by happenstance he raises from the dead in three days… Given that we’re now at the stage of “Satoshi, why have you forsaken us?”

ive been around since 2012 and seen him have serious sides and comedy sides and crazy sides.

i remember his good work he done with the satoshi outpost donations. which looking back on it. the donations i put through his managed campaign to the satoshi outpost. at todays prices well some of them hungry people may now have regretted eating sandwiches worth over $1k at todays btc prices

to me i just take him as a human being with many faccits.  but ultimately he is just a human.

i dont see him as a executive suit wearing guy. (well the image in the OP from a convention a few years back gave me that impression), but i dont think he is 'bat chit crazy'..
more so just a free spirit that doesnt care what people think and isnt easily an ass kisser

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.

Yeah you might think that but when it comes to posting he's more beast than man.

You're right and its refreshing to hear original opinions that aren't censored, especially in an ever-decreasing signal-to-noise ratio that seems to be the trend here.

I first encountered Bruno back in the BFL days, when he was "sticking it up Josh's ass".  The thread "BFL fucked us over redux" was extremely entertaining to watch, I look back on those threads as my education into the wild west.

I still have trouble understanding this wild west environment even after 5+ years here but I can say I am glad guys like Bruno are a part of this community.

I don't really think hes crazy, I think hes a very intelligent man, so much so that I invested in his upcoming ICO!!!!

If some of the old timers in the community really value what Bruno has done for this place they would give his ICO a good look because it is a novel unique idea that has identified a problem and has a way to profit from it (if everything comes together).  I mean at least give it a read for pete sakes!

That's what I did and I invested in it, and am also a team member yay YuTuCoin go team!

Thanks for the share. I too was a fan of Bruno specially the way he busted scams around here. Although I never conversed personally, I always follows his post around, and most of the time its a good laugh reading his comments. I recall he connected a scams with some Russian dude or something and the way the connected the dot is amazing.

I always found it interesting how so many scammers have the first name of "Josh"... I wonder if its a coincidence or if something about having the name "Josh" makes somebody want to become a scammer.

studies have shown that people naturally trust certain names. i have seen some customer service reps of businesses use pseudonyms like jake, josh, james. instead of their real names due to these studies

for instance in western countries having a middle eastern name turns people off. yea its racism but when people get a phone call from someone with an indian name.. the instant stereotype is that its a call centre trying to sell something so the person receiving the call instantly gets defensive to think about how to politely hang up and not buy the product.
if the name of the contact sounds african, then people have a pre conception that its a nigerian prince scam

if the name of the contact has a double barrowed surname that sounds like they went to Oxford UK. then people will think they are educated.

so in short yes scammers try to use names that appear to be of trust
religious people that want to have their children to have a pre conception by others of being religious name their kids by biblical names.

and to be frank (saying things as they are no matter who might get offended) studies like that influenced my choice of my bitcoin pseudonym

He is indeed a great person and has an awesome personality. Plus the fact that he is so blunt is what makes him so lovable, and let's not forget to add how well he is when it comes to busting out scams.

We really need him. He had all those qualities in him to run a ICO properly. Moreover, his activities outside crypto community also makes him a really interesting personality. Though I often thought him to be crazy but he proved me wrong most of the times.

This is pretty interesting... I watch a lot of scam baiting videos on youtube and the #1 and #2 most popular fake names for tech support or IRS scammers and Josh and James. Like "James Smith" and "Josh Brown."

Though I often thought him to be crazy but he proved me wrong most of the times.

Most of the times...  Cheesy That sounds a lot like him.

Really great interview. Loved every bit of it. I used to believe that James Harris Simons is behind the name of Satoshi Nakamoto and the seed of the idea was planted by Bruno's claims. Though I have stopped believing in that but still my respect for Bruno hasn't reduced a bit.

Good to see that people of this forum haven't really forgotten about Bruno. He has helped the community to grow in one way or another and his contributions to this forum should be acknowledged no matter what happens. Kudos to you for arranging the interview. Well deserved merit.

A very curious character. I also like him, I think that no Satoshi Nakamoto ever existed. This is a legend that we were offered to the consciousness of people who are interested in this.

A very curious character. I also like him, I think that no Satoshi Nakamoto ever existed. This is a legend that we were offered to the consciousness of people who are interested in this.

With each passing day I agree more and more with this: that he was never a single person, and likely a team of people not necessarily acting in the best interests of humanity.

Regardless, bitcoin has still improved the lives of many ordinary people. I am not an investor by any means but use it at least 3-4 times a week. Where I live you can use it to "top up" your cell phone services and cash it out at local remittance centers pretty easily, tens of thousands of people do here every day.
