On August 14, 2018, Telegram has updated their Privacy policy.
Now there is a block named "Who Your Personal Data May Be Shared With"

https://telegram.org/privacy

This means that Telegram will disclosure your IP and phone number when requested by the court.

Will this affect the usage of Telegram by cryptocurrency community? Will we have to move somewhere else?

I would not wonder if they share the data with corporation (Law enforcement) even there are no clause about disclosing data on their T&C. When a system is centralized then it's not hard to manipulate. Thanks to the decentralized blockchain technology and bitcoin.

Isn't it still pretty easy to hide your real identity?

Use TOR/VPN to register/connect to Telegram. Buy a new SIM card and then dump it after you register. Unless you have to put a national registration number to register your SIM card, which is still pretty easy to trick too.

Even though Telegram reveals our IP & phone number, I don't think they'll find our real identity just by that.

Just don't use centralised chat apps, then this isn't possible.

Tox is available for all platforms, and is fully p2p. No excuse not to use it IMO

true but for the majority of the users out there, they may not be familiar with this and thus making the transition can be challenging.  Cool

Telegram (or Signal) were nowhere 2 or 3 years ago, all you've gotta do is use it with the people who are willing, and if others ask why you use Tox, tell them "more secure". Adoption will take care of itself.

I don't like Tox just for it's p2p nature, you also don't need to give someone a telephone number (it finds your message recipient in a different way). That means Tox works on a PC desktop too.
