Yahoo Finance has integrated deals with Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and Litecoin (LTC) on its platform. Although the statistics are available on platforms for other encoded currencies such as Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum Classic (ETC) or EOS, but they do not currently have the option to buy or sell.

Some people in the pre-coding community say that this is an important step forward in enhancing the adoption of coding. Founder of Morgan Creek Digital, Anthony Pompliano tweeted: Now you can buy Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin on Yahoo Finance).

BTC continues to trade near $ 7,000, according to Cointelegraph's Bitcoin price index after it broke the $ 7,000 threshold on Aug. 28. At the time of writing, the top codec was trading at around $ 7,043. ETH is trading around $ 290 at the time of writing, down 1.36% in the past 24 hours, not significant in the day. Yesterday, August 29, ETH witnessed the first strong price increase after a week fluctuating between $ 270-280.

LTC is trading around $ 62, down 1.74% on the day. The total market capitalization of this altcoin is nearly $ 3.6 billion, while its trading volume in the past 24 hours totaled about $ 222 million.

In March, Yahoo's Japan-based Internet giant said it would open an encrypted trading platform "in April 2016 or later." Yahoo Japan will buy a 40% stake in BitARG in April and immediately dispatch executives to lay the groundwork for next year's launch.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

In March, the Japanese arm of internet giant Yahoo said it will open a cryptocurrency exchange “in April 2019 or later.”

Unfortunately, it's a bit of non-news.
They've just added some tickers, there is no way you can buy cryptos there.

Is there any reliable news source reporting this?

I searched in Google, none that I could find, the only regular news source is express.co.uk which is notorious for posting hyped up fake news, and creating clickbait news stories them selves based on nothing.

They've just added some tickers, there is no way you can buy cryptos there.

I understand that they have just added price tickers in their website becuse I am not able to see any buying or selling options given.

However, I was just wondering how the picture in the article is showing "buy/sell" options just beside the ticker??

I think it is only showing up for the countries where trading cryptos is fully legal without any confusing legal status. Even the tweet that is mentioned in article, talking about buying and selling of bitcoin. Probably it is not showing to us because trading cryptos is not legal in our country!

I don't show up for me in the EU and it doesn't show for a friend in the US, so unless somebody confirms it is indeed there I would suspect it is a fake.

Furthermore, even the news implies that there is no such option:
Quote
but they do not currently have the option to buy or sell.

So...

Yes and that is self contradictory! While the picture shows the options for buying and selling the article shows otherwise.

Yahoo coming to crypto trading market will be a billion dollars news while adding just a ticker is not!

It's apparently only available through Yahoo's iOS app:

https://cointelegraph.com/news/despite-desktop-appearance-yahoo-crypto-trading-is-currently-available-only-on-ios-app

Kind of strange that they chose to start there, but they did say support to other platforms will be coming eventually. Yahoo is still pretty big and people who have been interested in Bitcoin for a while could be convinced to buy if they're integrated into the app. This is pretty good news IMO.

they are not integrating Crypto as payment method, just some tickers, so please change the title, its misleading, and you should insert the source, too.

Who uses Yahoo nowadays?Only old people,I guess.Yahoo is a big failure(I used to like Yahoo Answers, but now there are better Q&A websites, like Quora). They aren't open to disruptive innovations like crypto and that's why they have lost the battle against all the other online giants, like Google and Facebook.
It would be great if Yahoo Japan accepts crypto payments, but this is highly unlikely to happen.

This is a great news and this will be a very good initiative from yahoo. People need to accept the importance of bitcoin and bitcoin exchanges as it is the new generation is all about.
