Hi all,

I've just started building my mining rig, and need to get some risers. I've found a supplier who can provide me with USB powered risers, but I need to know which type to buy.

My board is an Asus P8P67m-Pro which (from the specs) has:

Quote
2 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x16, x8, x8 or x16, x16, x1)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x1

I currently have one Sapphire R9-280X Toxic in the 16x slot, but want to add at least 2 more. Can I just use 1x-16x risers for this, or do I need to match the risers o the slots precisely? And if I use 1x-16x do I need to short anything or mod anything to make it work?

Sorry for such a newb question, but advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Rit

You can use 1x->16x risers just fine.
But if your motherboard won't see gpu's connected into 1x slots you need to short them, its easy.
