Hey, guys, you know how ICO rating sites work (ICOHolder, ICO Ranking, etc...) I'd need your opinion on these sites. Do you use them? Are they important in your investment decisions? Do you find their operation effective? Do you trust them?
There is currently a debate about whether ICO actually buy good ratings. What do you think of that?
If you work for these sites, I'm interested too! Don't hesitate to come and present your point of view

They're definitely not useful for proper investment decisions, but they can be a good idea to learn something about what's going on. Sort of like, just to catch up with what's out there.
Mainly because they're paid to list those reviews, if they're not paid then they're posting those reviews to earn bounties. So either way, you know they're saying something good, or can't say something too bad, or they won't get paid or not get enough bounties.
They're ok for finding websites, channels, etc. But nothing you can't find on your own.

Okay, for you a good way to get general information but you can't trust them.
You evoke the Bounty, the publications of the sites of ICO can be integrated to Bounty campaign to your opinion (As publications on steemit or Medium for example)?

I don't use any of them. It's no use of using these ICO ratings websites anymore, most of them are only bias and only aims to gain more advertisers that will use their service to list those upcoming ICOs by giving it a better review.
Before I'm leaning on reviews like those but now after reading that there are paid reviews, I lost my appetite of depending to those. Buying of good rating is very unethical and that's only going to get investors that don't do full research of the ICO they are investing.

I agree with your suggestion because these sites to me are only good to get updates about new projects and their ranking cannot be trusted because most of them paid to give good scores to a project that does not even worth it while less ranked projects even do better. When you check the rating of the project, it is good for you to sit back and do your own research before you put your money in it.

Everyone agrees: ICO's ranking sites are mostly used as a source of information but are NOT (or rarely) considered as fair sources...
That's a real problem, isn't it?

Yes, I often use the ico rating website. the web rating that I use to be used as a benchmark is icobench. because many trusted advisors use the icobench site. Several times I also saw a successful project just from seeing icobench.

The real question is: what is a trusted advisor? I still have the impression that the selection criteria are questionable...
Btw, how does one become an Ico advisor?

The real question is: what is a trusted advisor? I still have the impression that the selection criteria are questionable...
After spending times on this ICO space, I get the impression that ICO Advisor is someone who is expert on the field that ICO is doing or other parts that are required for the ICO / project to succeed. Most of the time, advisor/trusted advisor is someone who has plenty of experiences on a specific field, can be verified, or in another word, exist. Btw, how does one become an Ico advisor?
Don't really know. Probably following the same cycle in other business. You build something, you got success, become influential, so you can use your knowledge and influence to power up the project you're helping. Are we talking about ICOBench expert here?

Information on ICO rating should only be consulted. You should not trust 100% on it because I see a lot of ICOs have spent some money to bribe good evaluators for their projects. And I bet you would never want to invest in those ICOs, the risk of scam is very high

So if you do not rely on ICO rating site, where you rely on to invest in ICO? Actually there are some projects they might have bought good reviews but not all But ICO site is still a safe place for us to find out good ICO

If these sites were all honest and objective, then in general most of the ratings would be low. Because a good-rated ICO is very hard to come by. It's not just about the team and advisers who are all good and well known. It's not just about a great whitepaper, cause everyone can write a decent one these days and charge a few hundred dollars. In the end, it's very hard to rate an ICO until they have a good history of product development and active developers - which 99% of ICOs don't have.

About the “practice” in this field, this post is terrific... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4964816.0Dear forum members, Today I am going to discuss here a very important matter. Little earlier I see something unusual here on a scam ICO ANN. With valid proof I post on their ANN to put everyone stay away from them. After my post "icoholder.com"post there that they have listed the ICO on their listing site . How its possible a listing site list scam ICO on their listing category? Its a trick to blackmail ICOs here on bitcointalk. First they list ICO without any cost on their website & after somedays start forcing to develop ratings with a big fund.Even they don't investigate well is it a scam project or Not. Its really disappointed after seeing my post that its a scam project they post there Just see how they are using multiple account for spamming:Hello! Your project https://icoholder.com/en/travelus-24934 was selected among others and was added to our listing - icoholder.com. Congratulations! At the moment your project is unrated (N/A). You can edit your Page by adding more information about your ICO after verification and also verify team members. If you have more questions, please write to @m_holder ( https://t.me/m_holder) http://archive.is/pw2LkIn my opinion perhaps this kind of listing sites blackmail several ICOs by following this rating techniques. They also using multiple bitcointalk Account to make spam on forum. I have already given proof above. Please take a look below how they doing this here : Hello! I am editor from icoholder.com. Your ICO was added to our listing and now is available to investors: https://icoholder.com/en/hive-power-20465 You can edit your Page by adding more information about your ICO after verification and also verify team members to improve ranking. All these accounts are connected with "icoholder.com" They are using these multiple accounts to blackmail ICOs here on bitcointalk.Even they don't care about fake ICO, fake team or whatever. They just need money. please everyone be careful about "icoholder.com". If this is an official ICOHolder strategy, it says a lot about the habits of the sector... It's spammers' behavior, it violates the rules of the forum but above all it messes up the rules of trust that should exist in the community

Back in the days when I do make bounty hunting I do come to a point where searching on ico rating sites is one of my routing on finding a good possible project but the time I do discover that these rating sites can really be influenced or can be paid up and do put positive ratings which means theres no guarantee anytime that all of ratings are indeed precise because of that case. I'm not seeing any informations from them and it would be much better on doing your traditional researching routine.

When I first joined crypto, I used to rely on the rating scores on the ICO ratings page to choose a participating project. But then, I realized that these evaluations were not accurate, and that the projects I participated in failed. It's just one way to combine reviews with other factors, do not rely on it entirely

I check them from time to time to know what are the ICOs that are currently trending because when they are listed in those sotes then that would mean they paid for that review and they have funds to do so. They are putting their best foot forward by letting those ICO review sites promote them and attract more investors. The higher the rating, the more attractive for investors and I think some of them have really honest reviews and not just saying it for the sake of getting paid. There is currently a debate about whether ICO actually buy good ratings. What do you think of that?

Maybe they are buying, maybe not. It's up to you as well to judge if what the review saying is true by doing due diligence. Nevertheless, we should always be careful in investing because it's our money that will be lost when the time comes and the ICO turns out to be scam. Those famous review sites may also want to protect their reputation so I think they are checking the projects carefully if it is legit or not.
