My account was compromised in February. I was notified by an email that my account's email address was changed, so I used the link sent in the email to lock my account. I first followed the instructions here, to the letter:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0

I did not receive a response from Cyrus within the first 2 weeks (or now), nor have I received a response from theymos over the past months.
I am aware that they must be busy, but I'm curious if this indicates that my account will not be recovered, or if it's possible that the PM was merely dismissed, since this account is that of a new user.

I also sent an email with the same contents as the PMs to acctcomp15@theymos.e4ward.com (this is the address which I am instructed to email after attempting to login with my compromised account) and have not received a response either. (I followed both procedures since it is not clear which is more recent.)

I have been regularly checking my spam folder for the original email associated with my account, as well as the one associated with this current alternate account.

Thanks for any advice.

The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

The recovery process is hopeless as it takes months, but try moving this thread to Meta where it belongs.

I guess you know how to move threads. Just in case, lower left corner, you'll see the "Move" link.

Thanks for the reply. I forgot that users with new status aren't restricted to the Beginner's forum anymore (I think it was probably changed quite some time ago, actually).

I'm willing to wait a long time to recover my original account. I'm aware that they're busy and this recovery process isn't automated nor is it their #1 priority.

The newbie jail is long gone, years ago.
I'll just drop this here, it's gonna be a long wait...

I acknowledge that the current situation is very bad, and we have some plans for fixing it. I hope to have manual account reviews going smoothly again before the end of the year at the latest.
