Why don't DuckDuckGo and Bing show bitcointalk results?

I can literally type the subject i want to look up and the word bitcointalk into a google search bar and it shows right up every single time at the top of the list.

The two referenced in the title seem to actively be filtering this site out.

Just wondering why that is?

If there's a thread on this i couldn't find it.

Never thought of it! You are absolutely right. I just tried with "Wall Observer BTC/USD" on duckduckgo with a hope that I will get this topic on the result but I ended up having the following domains...

With bing.com I tried what the OP suggested and for any search terms like this: "bitcointalk + anything else", or even this: "site:bitcointalk.org + anything else" I always get the home page of bitcointalk.org, no matter the search term. Probably no one uses bing for anything important these days so it doesn't matter. Their market share of bing compared to the other search engines (google essentially) is something like 3 percent.

DuckDuckGo doesn't work the same as Bing, Google, etc. The algorithm is working differently, it's based on "sources". It has thousands of sources and displays the SERP based on its sources. So if your website isn't optimized for the sources used, it won't be optimized for DuckDuckGo

Stats released by the company this week claim Bing enjoys an astonishing 33 percent market share in the US, which is far higher than the frankly more believable 9 percent it reports worldwide. According to Microsoft, the 33 percent market share amounts to some 5 billion searches.

It's funny though when you bing "Bitcointalk Technical Support", one of the first results is

Apparently that (phishing?) site indexes just fine on bing, while bitcointalk.org doesn't. Weird.

In fact it does surprise me. I found this source http://gs.statcounter.com/search-engine-market-share about worldwide search engine shares, but I see now that bing's US share is much larger.

So, yes bing could be be an important traffic source after all.

duckduckgo does not follow you. It does not know your preferences nor the preferences of the people in your region. So you need to be a bit more precise about what you want to find. But I still find a great alternative to google.

You can use duckduckgo.com as well. By not tracking your searches and not tracking you anywhere you visit on the internet, I would recommend using it instead of google.
They use the same codes as google. Just enter the terms you want to search followed by:

So if you want to search for satoshi, it would look like this:

You can search in specific sections too. You just need to put the right number of the section.

Thanks all for the informative replies, it's making more sense.

I wanted to add a little bit more information to this also, just in case anyone was wanting more:

For the last year, mostly, I've been avoiding google searches. The question I asked about this place not showing up is after months on months of me using various computers mostly all not having any kind of saved local history (indeed there are generally deletions of such every 2-4 days i'd figure on average, if one is recorded at all).

Additionally, this is across no less than three different computers I use mostly every day, and no less than five overall, across ipv4 and ipv6 connections as well as two or three different vpns. Two of the computers usually get an OS flashed about every week or so to some different or the same linux distro. So basically I can only assume that the servers are picking up "random linux user on high resolution screen using mostly firefox located more often than not in the USA and sometimes Germany/Netherlands."

And still, every time I try to find a subject on this board by typing the subject i'm looking for coupled with the word bitcointalk both Bing and DuckDuckGo generally fail to acknowledge that the site even exists at all.

Only google has reliably served this site along with my specified search term on this site.

Actually, it's been so lately that the only searches I do through google is when I'm looking for something on this site.

Add: also, yes i at least can confirm I was mistaken before in that bing at least produces a link to bitcointalk.org, and that's it.

Anyway, seems like this should not be a correct search criteria. Search criteria should be based on the keyword. From the keyword the engine should bring the site name.

I was interested to see how the search result reflects using only the following keyword...

No result after going through all the search result.

No result found however interestingly - the indexing has other sites which mentioned BitcoinTalk.org but not bitcointalk.org page has indexed

I just tried using TOR Browser after @LoyceV give me link to Tor Browser, which developed by DeepOnion project.
Got the same issues as the OP author and all of you.
It's too complicated, required more time, more efforts when searching on duckduckgo. Consequently, I might consider stop using Tor and switching back to Google Chrome, which is much more convenient.

Seems like you prefer simplicity over privacy.

I don't think you'd have to go that far though, you can still use the regular search habits (only typing a keyword that you want to search) on DuckDuckGo and the results are not that bad.

In real world how much we care about privacy? We like simplicity, user-friendliness.

Seems like privacy only needed on this site (I mean the forum) or they will rip you off when they will have their chance. Even they will not leave your family aside. They will make fun of your spouse, unborn child etc. They will show up to your door and will ask why did you do this and that in the past!

My experience is - keep your identity hidden for BitcoinTalk.

That's your choice, but be aware that of all the non-Tor browsers, Chrome is one of the worst in terms of privacy and tracking.

Firefox is generally a better choice. I've also heard some good things about the new Brave browser that is integrated with BAT on Ethereum, but I've never used it myself. Regardless of which browser you use, there are many settings tweaks and add-ons you can install that will improve your security and privacy. Chrome is one of the worst in terms of privacy and tracking.

I tend to use officially browsers and their built-in private features. Because using add-ons from third parties probably more risky, personally.

Regardless of which browser you use, there are many settings tweaks and add-ons you can install that will improve your security and privacy.

Incognito mode does nothing to protect you online. All its modifications are on your computer only - it doesn't store history or cache for that session, so anyone else using your computer can't see what sites you've visited. It does nothing, however, to protect you from tracking, fingerprinting, IP leaks, ISP or government spying, etc, etc.

Essentially, it's for local privacy only, not online privacy.
