Hit the road Jack is a bit too old school for me. But I agree that music industry are going in wrong direction in general. So many negative elements in music today, so sad Sad

Music is not the same and never will be.

And perhaps always "old" music will be better then "new" one Smiley

Nah, truth to be told as much shitty music were made back in the days as there is today. We have a tendency to make everything we didn't experience ourselves a lot more glamorous than it actually was. It's the pearls that we remember, not the bad songs, that's why it might give an impression of having been better. Give it 50 years and people will look back at today's music, and they'll make their own forum posts about how awesome a particular song was, whilst shit like One direction and Lady gaga will have been forgotten for 40 years.

Everyone thinks the old music is better no matter what generation your in.

It brings back memories and you often go back to the your old favourites when your feeling down or having a hard time.

You're right, I was born in the 80's and still like music from that period. Everyone I know thinks music these days is mostly shitty, based on some electronic beats and mixes.

Perhaps you are right Smiley it is just our mentality that "old times" are always "better times" but when we realize what was really going on during "old times" we figure out that it was many problems like in the new times too.

I used to listen to old rock as a kid. I grew up in a communist country, so it was sometimes hard to get new albums. My older brother listened to Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple. As I grew older my taste changed a bit into heavy metal of the 90s.

Inb4 60 years from now when we're old and despise the younger generations. "Back in my days we had REAL music, like Katy Perry and Lady Gaga!" and someone posts links to "I kissed a girl" on a forum, asking people to remember how great those days were! Cheesy

Not surprising, one of the most iconic and classic "modern" songs there is.

can you honestly imagine how boring music would be if it was the same as it was back then.  I like how music is created from songs of the past I think that shows progression in some ways.  That being said I truly love all kinds of music.

For that exact reason music is evolving. Nobody actually wants all the music from older times back, we as humans just tend to glorify old things by only remembering the good things of the time. Music can't sound the same from year to year, it's constantly evolving, with new technology, sources of inspiration, etc etc.

Agreed as lover of music I just want to see it improved upon not stay the same..
I want to hear a new interpretation of what good music is and compare it to older songs.  I think we are very much on the same page with our expectations of the evolution of music apsvinet. Wink
