Next Monday will witness an eagerly anticipated debate between two of bitcoin’s leading figures. Bitcoin.com CEO Roger Ver and Bitcoin Core developer Jimmy Song will go head-to-head aboard a blockchain cruise on the Mediterranean. The debate promises to be one of the highlights of the three-day event, watched by 2,500 delegates aboard Coinsbank’s chartered vessel. See more for yourself here.

Seconded.

I really wish we could get Ver to stop talking about Bitcoin once and for all. He shouldn't even be allowed to have bitcoin.com

I'm surprised Ver would go on something like this. Seems like these sorts of cruises would be a security risk to people who hold millions in cryptos. I'd imagine they'd be good places to rob or even abduct people. Or maybe I've just been watching too many heist films  Grin

With that being said, I think I'd quite like to go on one of these cruises if it was to a nice location, but it would have to have the right guests. I bet they're complete sausage fests though LOL.

Seconded.

Why don't you jump on the cruise and give him a piece of your mind?  Grin. I don't like Ver either but you've got to hand it to him for purchasing that domain when he did because it's worth a lot more than the one million he paid for it now. I'm sure he's made his money back from adverts and sponsorships already.

I'd really rather not be on in enclosed space in the middle of the ocean stuck with Ver  Grin

The thing with these debates is that they always tend to put Roger (which is a very confident speaker) against someone who's very weak in debates. It allows Roger to easily dominate the debate and make the opposite speaker look like a dumbo, even if that person is totally right. Perfect example of that was the debate with Samson Mow, that was really embarrassing.

I would love to see another Roger vs Richard Heart debate. Richard at least knows how to put Roger in a solid grip during a debate. He also knows the ins and outs of how much of a scam BCash really is.

For the people who rightfully refrain from clicking on Roger's domain, here is an alternative link;

Finally, and thank you for the link been given instead on accessing on Vers domain.

I do remember out that Ver and Heart debate which I can really see that Richard cant really be easily putted down.I doubt on this Jimmy song upcoming debate if it would be the same thing but if not then
results would really be still the same which Ver can really dominate when it comes to points.

Poster reported to mods for promoting bitcoin dot com camped domain.

"ruthbabe" apparently doesn't care about promoting Roger Ver on a Bitcoin forum -- even though Ver is trying every dirty trick in the book to usurp Bitcoin.

Cut that shit out, you newbie.

Sorry, but I have no bad intention or anything in mind doing this thread or that I'm promoting domain bitcoin.com. I'm not an advocate and/or promoter of Roger Ver, nor do I know him. Who am I to interfere with what he wants to do? I just post news about the debate because it's related to Bitcoin, and so I think it is worthy of the discussion and needs to be discussed. However, if the mod tells me that this is a violation of the rules, or news/articles that come from news.bitcoin.com are not allowed outright I will delete this thread, and all the posts I made about that news outlet.

It's (unfortunately) not against the rules to link to Roger's domain, but on the other hand people shouldn't donate him free traffic either, especially with how he's trying to destroy the coin that gave everything to him.

Nearly all the Roger .com articles you posted were covered by other news outlets as well, so you could just as easily have used their articles to post here. Perhaps that's something you can keep in mind for the next time?

Why don't you spend five minutes doing some research on this? If you clicked the link above you would find all you need to know about it. It's basically like bitcoin conference but instead of renting out a venue you rent out a cruise ship and it sails around a few places.

You can buy tickets for it here: https://coinsbank.com/cruise-europe?#section-home

Quote
On Friday September 7, Coinsbank’s Blockchain Cruise will depart from Barcelona with 2,500 cryptocurrency enthusiasts on board. Among those present will be a number of the industry’s leading figures including such mavericks as John McAfee and Brock Pierce. On September 10, the cruise liner will dock in Ibiza, where one for sure highlight of the trip is scheduled to take place.

At 1pm, Roger Ver and Jimmy Song will face one another in a debate that has been framed as Cash vs Core. Bitcoin.com CEO Roger Ver is a passionate advocate of Bitcoin Cash and its low fees, on-chain scaling, and focus on real world adoption. Jimmy Song, on the other hand, is a proud Bitcoin Core evangelist. Through his writing and development work, he has been a tireless source of support for all things Bitcoin. Both men were preaching the gospel of Bitcoin before it was cool, and remain staunch proponents to this day.

In his defense I screw this up a lot myself. I get these aggregate alerts about Bitcoin because I always want to know the latest news and often I overlook the site and just click on the link or I share it on here. It's not something I consciously do.

i'll have to watch that debate with samson mow---dude is usually pretty sharp on twitter. i suppose the live debate context is a lot different. Smiley

jimmy song is definitely a smart dude and knows his stuff when it comes to bitcoin. but unfortunately, he's too damn nice. i'm guessing he'll let roger walk all over him. roger knows how to speak with authority even when he's full of shit.

I'm glad you at least acknowledge the seriousness of this. We must do everything we can to stop these bad actors from ranking up their domains through Bitcointalk. If possible, make people around you (the more people know the better it is) also aware of how toxic Roger's .com domain is. Everyone deserves to know how these con artists try to cut off the hand that fed them (and still does).

Yeah, as you can tell from my first post on this thread I'm not the biggest Roger Ver fan in the world. I agree though, everything about Roger is toxic. I have no place for him (or Craig Wright for that matter).

Thanks for the warning. I will no longer use that site as news source.

I have no place for him (or Craig Wright for that matter).
Ironically, it could happen this year that Roger and Craig Wright might become enemies. Craig Wright has even been accused of being a Blockstream spy, which really made my day when reading that. Cheesy

I don't think they will be able to settle down for an overall agreement, especially with nChain being too focused on their own roadmap. I'm looking forward to the chain split as result of these baboons not being able to behave.

I don't understand why Roger is booked as speaker this often by these events. There is no event where either Roger or Craig isn't featured. Desperately trying to push their twisted ideology.

I reckon no one can win an argument versus Roger Ver. The man is mentally sharp and he has a gift for manipulating the flow of the debate. Also, Samson Mow walked away from him from a panel because Samson knew he cannot win.

In any case, will it be shown live? The loser should also be required to jump off the boat hehehe.

Here's how you win against Roger Ver -- you watch his previous "debates" and list out his talking points.

He sticks to the same ones, regardless of where the actual topic starts.

He also is technically incompetent, so if you point out a flaw and he can't counter - instant points to you. The moment Ver is losing however, he usually reverts to the "Hallowed satoshi paper" as his defense. Its simplistic ideological smokescreen to get out of tight spots.

So in short, if you slam him with technical reasons, he doesn't have a leg to stand on -- and I'm talking more than just the usual mantra he spouts about "big blocks are better".

For instance, abstracting any of these arguments would absolutely floor him -- https://medium.com/@melik_87377/lightning-network-enables-unicast-transactions-in-bitcoin-lightning-is-bitcoins-tcp-ip-stack-8ec1d42c14f5

Or any of the scaling points made here -- (title says Ethereum but it also matters to Bcash) -- https://hackernoon.com/the-ethereum-blockchain-size-has-exceeded-1tb-and-yes-its-an-issue-2b650b5f4f62

But I doubt anyone will prepare enough to take Roger Ver down, only because his own incompetence and idiocy is doing it for us. Being surrounded by a pack of liars and con-men have become a greater liability than Ver realized, and the outcome is hilarious.

I don't understand why Roger is booked as speaker this often by these events. There is no event where either Roger or Craig isn't featured. Desperately trying to push their twisted ideology.

1) Roger is well-spoken and charismatic. As much as we in the community can't stand him, these qualities matter when it comes to a speaker. I've been in the tech field for a number of years and gone to a ton of conferences, I can't tell you how many times some idiot gets booked that doesn't know what they're talking about but they're well-spoken and charismatic...and unfortunately the people that do know what they're talking about tend to be awkward and boring.

2) The people doing the bookings really don't know any better. They see Roger Ver they see he has bitcoin.com and they think he's a valuable member of the community...when in fact most of us look at him like he's a traitor.
