Given all the recent thefts happening I think it would be good to have a section dedicated to bitcoin thefts on the website so we can start gathering information.

We need just a single mistake from these thefts to catch them. Even if the likelihood they will make a such mistake is very low the information we gather can be useful.

Bitcoin addresses contain a checksum, so it is very unlikely that mistyping an address will cause you to lose money.

there are many threads where people are tracking their lost BTC

perhaps section "thief" is not a best idea...

there are SCAM allerts so you can post a SCAM allert if you find some thief.

I am currently looking for the owner of this address :

1Ne5bGjDdgmbsGdNK9ocwrQiWf8K1FTuSa

This guy hacked flexcoin, mt gox and thousands of blockchain wallets.

He traded on the otc markets on the 27-Feb with dmzpkts.

Its actually simple.   Once he tries to get fiat, you investigate and make him prove source of income and fiat to bitcoin trail to support it.   If he can't verify source of income, confiscate the cash.

Yea if he sells it all on an exchange but what idiot would do that. If it was me I'd be selling for cash using summat like loacalbitcoins/friends and there going to be more ways of hiding it, that I can't think of right now. It's not as simple as u think.

Here we have his ip address !

ISPs have to disclose the physical address of the owner of this ip address if they receive a court order. So basically the cops can know where this guy lives.

Yea "if" they can get a court order and "if" he's not using a proxy or two. Also what if he spoofed his mac address and keeps is wallet offline n hidden and when the cops come for him there's no evidence to tie him to any crime.

if they have a warrant they can get everything in his home and believe me a guy who stole 58M also did a lot of bad things so they would have no issue finding something else on him

In theory they can get at everything but not that simple unless the crook admits to it and gives them the private key. if he's smart he won't have left much evidence behind and I very much doubt he has is private key just laying about for anyone to find.

You can't say he also did a lot of bad things nobody knows him, could be a good guy who just seen an opportunity and took it for all we know he/she might not even have a criminal record.
