The
Labouchere system works best with even-money bets on the roulette table. These bets are the Red/Black, Odd/Even, and 1-to-18/19-to-36.
First off, you must decide on the amount you want to win. Afterward, divide the amount into smaller numbers and write them down in any sequence you like. For example, you want to win US$5. Your number sequence can be:
1 – 2 – 1 – 1
However, you should create the sequence according to your liking. There is no right or wrong way of creating a sequence just as long as adding up all the numbers in your series will result to your target prize.
Next, you should add the first and last numbers in the sequence. The sum of both numbers will be the amount of your first bet. Based on the example, adding the first and last numbers (1 + 1) makes 2, which means you must bet US$2.
Say you won the round; you should cross out both the first and last numbers of the sequence, leaving you with:
1 – 2 – 1 – 1
The next bet would then be US$3 because the sum of the first and last numbers in the sequence (2 + 1) is 3.
What if you lose the round? You will add the amount lost to the end of the sequence. In this case, losing US$3 means you should add 3 to the end of your sequence:
2 – 1 – 3
Continue wagering according to the pattern until you clear all the numbers in the series. Crossing out the whole system means that you won your desired amount and completed the Labouchere system. You may now write a new sequence and follow these steps to win once again.
