I cant really see a difference between the two. Scam are already present in the 2017 and I think that was the year scam really started to show in mass. 2018 scam and failures are just continuation of the previous years events.

Ok I first:

2017: almost SCAM

Opposite to mine because based on my experiences 2017 has better ICO's and I actually find one that pays off my time and effort through bounty program. As the market crashes way back the end of the year 2017, it continues to fall until today so I think that is why we can see a lot of ICO's in 2017 compared to 2018 as team won't launched the projects as long as the market isn't stable because they knew what consequences they got if they launch it now.

While a good number of ICOs in 2017 must have failed, I think that ICOs in 2017 was still better than the ones that we have now, and come next year, a higher percentage of failure would be recorded for this year's ICOS. People do not even care about the credibility of ICOs anymore. They are about making some money for themselves now. Greedy lots.

This year ICOs have more realistic soft and hard caps, it will be much longer until they collect the amount needed for the soft cap and in my opinion, this year there will be more scamming attempts if we compare it  to 2017.

I think there's no difference but just the return of investment is lower due to the current bear market. Scam ICO's were rampant on 2017 and still is on 2018 and I think they will continue with their schemes as long as they can.

ICO of 2017 were more honest. The nastoiyashchy ideas and proyeta which sought to solve these or those problems, to move away intermediaries and so on arose. In 2018 the swindler was understood that it is possible to earn from carrying out ICO and began to forge already successful projects.

Nothing is different with the ICOs themselves, well apart from having lower softcaps and less chance of success. The market is the thing that has changed drastically, there is vastly less money being given to ICOs lately, and because of this quite a few ICOs are failing to reach their goals.

As for me in 2018 we have a lack of fresh ideas of blockchain applying, a lot of exchanges and wallets but nothing new. Hope that ICO with good ideas behiind just wait for better market conditions to start.

Some clear and striking differences have been crept in into the ico game from last year and 2018. In the aspect of fundraising for instance, projects are collapsing even from  inceptions. Crap and scams also have taken over also, which it's not rampant in 2017

In 2017, keen investors saw the bullish market and invested in any ICO in sight.
Fast forward to 2018, and most of these ICO’s are dead, dying, or a scam. Grin Grin Grin Grin

You have stated the obvious difference. In 2017 ico are sold out quickly, in 2018 scam ico are many legit ones couldn't raise their softcap even if it has a unique idea.

in my view so far, compared to ICOs that have died or failed, ICOs who have high success are those who are able to develop unique products and have better benefits and of course have a good marketing strategy.

I think that 2017 is the most terrible year for the market. Since February, the market is constantly falling, I doubt that by the end of the year we will see growth

I dont think like you. During bear market surely icos will lose their value.. They will come back.
No need to worry about that.

The quality of projects stayed +/- on the same level but projects reduced their hardcap from 20-150 milions to 5-30 because people rather invest in projects with small hardcap.

The difference is that in 2017 there was an uptrend and in 2018 a downtrend and this affected the demand for investment in ICO but it is not for long once the market unfolds ICO will become even more popular. But at the moment there are very high quality projects in which you can invest even in the bear market and make a profit ! My opinion is !

ICO in 2017 was really good, there are 90 percent or more legit projects even their airdrops have value.
ICO of 2018 is not that good, more than 50% of projects are scam. Airdrops are not good.
most of them has no value, if they have it, its only a few dollars or less.
I am missing the 2017 ICO.

The main difference between these two are in ICO 2017 most ICO were legit and a lot of investors were in every ICO investing and making a huge profit afterwards of it. In ICO 2018, almost all of the ICOs were mainly scam and investors were afraid to invest anymore thats why raising a fund in ICO 2018 were really hard to achieve.

in my opinion mate is the price which is now more inflated than before
think about coin in 2017 with 100 mil the price was 1 cent which give an opportunity for 10x gain now the same supply the price at preico almost 10 cents or more so less opportunity for x doubling

In 2018, the ICO grows bigly. We can find out so many ICOs every day with the different concept. In 2017, the concept of the ICOs are still about the mining, exchange, and other. But now, it is about the education, banks, finance, travel, social, and many others. But, the ICOs in this year is actually facing a very bear and bad market after on exchanges.
