What causes a person to become intensely addicted to gambling?

Desperate need of money makes most people addicted to gambling. They don't earn enough and they see gambling as a way to provide it. When they lose they can't accept the reality and try to recover it.

Losing is what makes people to be addicted to gambling and to other winning. If you ever win big money in gambling you will desire to win and have big money in your hand and as such you will wish to keep winning and that will make you keep playing. To other losing is the major reason why they keep playing gambling and as such, I think, we have reasons individually why we are gambling.

Some are really addicted to gambling because they want to earn money. Not that desperate but it is just that earning money from gambling is fun. Also, the excitement of that person winning is what they are wanting, the thrill of winning.

I mean, you only choose a husband once; pick a school once; or several times depending on the situation. But it's still minimal compared to playing gambling which eventually causes addiction. One of the primary reason I feel people get addicted to gambling is due to loneliness, and lack of attention from people they like plus it’s easy to find new gamblers in casino and draw attention to oneself if you start playing big bets. Second reason which is the most common one is the urge to make quick money, and it’s due to the fact that we live in an expensive world where our income has failed to rise unlike our expenses which have only shot up from time to time. Those scenarios you have mentioned do not come under the purview of Gambling, e.g. you do not get addicted to marry again and again.

Who would be addicted to losing? It is obvious for people to lose in gambling but you saying it is the reason why they are addicted to gambling? I think tht is not the reason but that is close, they are wanting to earn more money, they want to win always and they are experiencing that less than losing. They want to win but they are losing, that is the mix of being over-confident and being greedy.

People who earn 'easy money' from gambling don't value that money because they didn't have to work hard to earn it. They won it being lucky. That is why it is so easy for them to spend it, throw it away or gamble it. Those people who have to bust their asses to provide for their families value every single penny and they wont even try to gamble with it.

The promise of easy money. That's the main draw no matter what game it it. "Just spend small amount X and you can be a big winner". Even the government recognizes it, that's why they're the only ones who can draw lotto. That's why they closely monitor all gambling.

Once you get started, then the thrill kicks in and you can get addicted.

actually simple, when you win a gamble, someone wants to come back again for a victory that is bigger than yesterday. if you lose, someone will come back again to take revenge for yesterday's defeat. both sides make people always think of going back to the gambling table, because of their own desires.

It is the greed that act as a destroyer because when someone has won the money it is better to take it and go away but the addiction of having more money is so high than inspite of knowing that more you play higher chances of losing in gambling still people continues to play.

There are people who eye at making billions out of this more than $530 billion industry so yes they will do anything to make the money they want. Call them addicted or whatever but many of them who end up making the money enjoy lavish lives. Some of them do not leap big and lose their little capital. The war between a win and a loss in the gambling is what makes you an addict.

money is the only reason everyone in this world not regretted the money so that the basic for this addiction will always came with the money needs if the person again and again do the gambling then it will be all about money so that I think their addiction is also happening due to this situation.

For the root of the problem is money of course, many people gamble because they want to make money, but there are many other reasons that underlie someone to become an addict. loneliness, frustration, etc. are reasons other than money. but the most common is gambling habits that cannot be eliminated

life is a gamble if you decide that way, you should use logic and insight to avoid making a bad decision, I don't think this has something to do with gambling, I consider gambling when you are putting heavily on luck to your decision.

It is addictive to fun seekers just as such people get addicted to other addictive things. Addiction should never be tolerated.

So don't let the fun part get into your head and you'll be fine.
If unexpectedly you become addicted, you will need to gradually reduce your gamblings till you stop completely

At the start of gambling everyone is similar as everyone spend his hard earned money on gambling. There are few lucky who won big amount in their first few games and they get free money to gamble more. But if they do not care, they may lose all their winnings in next games and lose them all. Those unlucky ones who lost their first few bets may never come to gambling again because of lack of money.

But those who are addicted to gambling (whether they lose or win) are those who do not quit gambling and in case of loss take loans or sell their belongings in order to keep on playing gambling.

Addiction of gambling is not bad at all, because we do so many things in our life, we never get addicted to it so if you are gambling and you are finding it profitable for you so you will surely try to do it again, same as other earning resources some people prefer to use gambling which is not bad according to me, I will try to improve my strategies for gambling as well,

I totally agree with OP, gambling and risk cannot be eliminated.  Life is a gamble.    The main thing to avoid always is gambling money you do not have, the worst thing to do is combine a great risk and hope with the certainity of a debt.

If people have good money management its far less of a problem and even if terrible with money, then the backbone to take hit and realise the loss yourself is what it comes down to.  Risk is the most normal part of this whole game

these are not only the reasons there are lots of reasons available for addiction but everything is based on the money only if the money is needed for everyone then gambling is one of the best way to make and very quickly can become achieve the target in your mind that's why it is more addictive.
