Elad Roisman, the newly-appointed pro-crypto member of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) by Donald Trump is already in hot water regarding bitcoin ETF approvals. Roisman becomes the 4th Trump appointee to the SEC, following Michael Piwowar, who stepped down in July. Also in July, Roisman told the Senate Banking Committee that ‘’… the SEC must examine and re-examine its rules, regulations and guidelines to ensure that they are still working as intended to accomplish the SEC’s mission. This is most recently manifested in areas such as data protection and cybersecurity, as well as the emergence of new investments and technologies such as initial coin offerings and blockchain.’’

He went onto say it was “essential the SEC approach these new challenges in a fair and transparent manner, provide clarity and certainty to the markets and investors, and enforce the laws and regulations that hold market participants accountable.”

With Roisman’s confirmation, three out of the five SEC commissioners now have favorable views on cryptocurrencies. However, there’s no timeframe for the approval of any future Bitcoin ETF. Nine proposals from three different issuers were rejected as recently as late August, partly due to fears of market manipulation and the lack of future trading volume.

I'm still not convinced any Bitcoin ETF will be approved anytime soon, but it does look likelier now. For what it's worth, the Winklevoss Twins' ETF was struck down with a 3-1 vote, with one commissioner not voting, but voicing her disapproval of the decision. It could've been 3-2, which is one flipped vote away from passing.

I still don't know where I firmly stand on the issue, but I can understand how those clamoring for a Bitcoin ETF will see this as positive news. If nothing else, having open-minded people in power is better for the community overall.

It's obviously that SEC will delay the approval of ETF since there's no time frame and they'll use this to heightened the fears and uncertainty in the community thus manipulating the price.

They know that they will have huge influence and impact on the price and thus they should act accordingly. ETF will eventually be approved but it will take time. It doesn't matter when it will get approved but when it does prices will pump surely. However it is a always good to see that there are some thing happening and that something is moving in crypto space. Such as development and generally good news around.

This law passed from the parliament  has given more hope for cryptocurrency to be part of SEC any moment from now. The long awaited ETF-SEC admission is now a matter of time and execution meaning it is as good as confirmed. This news has also brighten the hope of cryptocurrency as the future of all financial transaction globally so we are moving to the stage where the demand and usage of bitcoin will be huge. Then the price of bitcoin will soar paving way for the predictions that bitcoin price may reach $25,000 by the year 2025. Let us wait and see how it will play out.

Trump is one of the variables I most fear. I'd rather he never say anything on twitter about Bitcoin. Any idea or pronounced of it can be devastating. Since he sometimes does not seem to think very well before commenting on something.

He can say something totally favorable and Bitcoin reaches 100k. Or he can say that it is a currecny used by a terrorist and want to banish, and then I have no idea what the price would be.

I just follow his Twitter every day to anticipate the worst case.

Iceland gives the opportunity for tourists to pay with bitcoin to enjoy a holiday in their country, it is good if this has been realized, surely tourists will have good access in crypto so they are satisfied with traveling in Iceland.

Why should we start expressing hope because of the selection of certain people into the committee while the composition could mean something, its not enough to express hope until the decision is eventually made because when decision that involves ETFs, it goes beyond the committee. The committee can decide to its favour but all stakeholders in the financial industry would be needed to ensure its success which means if all those variables are not put properly addressed and made to fall in line, it's dead on arrival.

Aside that, federal positions are not something you used for the benefit of your primary constituency as that would mean partisanship that every professionals would want to do against and avoid it to be that obvious in their decision making.

Donald trump is anti-science and anti-progress, I really don't think anything he does is going to help the current state of the economy. Also, ETFs could be a double edged sword for BTC/ETH, there's no guarantee it will cause a price spike.
