The sky is falling! . Well, not yet, but Bitstamp have leaked users' mail addresses.  Now hackers will target you personally. And it's not just virus-infected spam. Bots will keep trying to pick up your email passwords. Hackers would google your email for your name, then would google the name for other details and then use these details to attack your passwords. They would use scrypts to automate these attacks.

Be vigilant! Change your email passwords. Make them longer. Use 2FA. Don't keep bitcoins in your PC. Don't use any personal info for paper/brain wallets.

well bitcointalk has also sold email addresses.

i have an email address purely for this forum. and yep i get spam that is bitcoin related

People use BTC for different purposes. If it's an investment then keep it offline.

If you plan to use them for purchases it's kind of hard not to keep them on a networked device...

The best way is cold storage Smiley  But if you have to use an online storage, 2FA is the must.

If the hacker just has your password somehow, 2FA can help. If they have malware on your machine, 2FA won't necessarily stop them. They can just wait for you to log in with your 2FA and then have their way with your account.
