Hi All,

I transferred a small amount (under $100) of BTC from Coinbase Pro to a newly installed Electrum wallet on my Android mobile yesterday evening CST.

I setup the Electrum wallet as a SeqWit. Copied the wallet address from the Electrum app's receive tab, then pasted it into the Coinbase Pro send field. Initially I got an error message from CBPro because I copied the entire text, which started with "bitcoin:". Once I deleted the "bitcoin:" and used the address starting in "bc1" the transaction processed.

I double checked the address and it was the same from the mobile app as the one I pasted.

I have my transaction ID from CBPro.

Here are my questions:

1. How can I track the transaction using the address?
I have tried using the address that starts in "bc1" but none of the major sources online can do anything but tell me the address is invalid. I have tried, Blockchain Info, Blockchair and many others from a list and none of them can tell me anything.

2. How long does it generally take for a CBPro to Electrum SegWit wallet transfer for a small amount under $100 to happen?

3. Has anyone else had this problem?
If so what did you do and did you eventually get the BTC from CBPro into the wallet? How long did it take?

Thanks for your help and input. This is my very first shot at doing anything like this and I hope I did not mess up.

Does it show up in your electrum wallet? If not then try looking up the transaction ID on blockchain.info to see what's up

Hi,

Nothing shows up in the wallet on mobile or on my computer (I installed it on my computer after I saw nothing on the mobile app).

I tried searching on blockchain.info with the CBPro transaction ID and all I get is this error message:

Oops! We couldn’t find what you are looking for.
Unrecognized search pattern. Please try searching for a transaction by entering a block height, address, block hash, transaction hash, hash 160 or ipv4 address. Or select from the general topics below.

I also searched on blockonomics.co using the wallet address and it just says:

ADDRESS   BALANCE   UNCONFIRMED AMOUNT
bc1xxxxxxx   0 BTC   0 BTC
Total Balance:   0 BTC   0 BTC

Any recommendations?

if you can not see the transaction ID in your wallet or can not see it on any of the online blockexplorers such as blockchain.com, ... that simply means the service you used (CBPro?) has not sent you any coins. they may have created a transaction (hence the TX ID) but they never broadcast it to the network. all you can do is contact them and ask why they haven't sent you the coins they were supposed to send.

as for your bech32 address use btc.com block explorer to see them.

Hi and thanks for your reply.

CBPro = CoinbasePro (abbreviated)

I did submit a Coinbase Pro support ticket online. Afterwards, I called the support phone number and spoke with a rep. She said she saw my support request and then she stated it was being escalated.

Based on what you are saying, the analogy that comes to mind is that of the package shipping industry specifically UPS. Say I have a package being sent to me. The sender creates a shipping label and a tracking number and places it on the package. The result is now the package has a TX or tracking number. But it hasn't gone anywhere. Therefore all I can see is the TX (tracking number in this analogy). Once a UPS truck comes and scans the package and loads it on the truck, I can then query that trackiing code and see where the package is in the system.

So then Coinbase Pro created a TX but never sent my BTC and therefore I can't see anything with the address.

I did go to BTC.com and I input the address. Says same thing as in my previous reply:

Summary
Address               bc1xxxxxxxxxxx
Balance               0.00000000 BTC
Total Received     0.00000000 BTC
Tx Count             0

Can anything else be done or do I just wait and see?

I thought it would have been completed by now. Isn't SegWit supposed to be faster?

Coinbase supports SegWit according to the rep I spoke with and it's documented they do in their support site.

Again, thanks.

i have never used Coinbase myself but with some research i can see that they support SegWit and also withdrawal to native SegWit address format (Bech32 which is bc1.... addresses).
i can't think of anything that YOU can do apart from waiting for the coinbase support to get back to you. as long as you have given them a valid address they should have sent you the coins.

Yes, I did give them a valid address.
You said that coinbase gave you the transaction ID but blockexplorers didn't recognized it, right.
Then the problem is purely on their side.

And here's a bad news: there has been few fake coinbase urls (ex. coinnbase) that's spreading in the internet.
Double-check the url where you've bought the bitcoins.

nothing can be done on your side,
you have to wait until they completely processed your transfer/withdraw transaction
it's been two days, if the transaction still not showing up you need to contact support again

I thought it would have been completed by now. Isn't SegWit supposed to be faster?
segwit makes transaction faster in a sense that a network can process more transactions
and in your case, the problem is not the network but it's on their end for not having it broadcasted/sent yet
a UPS analogy for that is... your sender hasn't dropped/delivered your package to UPS office
so the speed is irrelevant here because UPS hasn't received the package to be delivered yet
