First, I have read many different opinions of many people on this forum and I really agree that this new rule will help our forum to limit the amount of spam, if a newbie wants to become jr.member, the newbie needs a real contribution to the forum, instead of trying to write meaningless things, that is very reasonable, effort and reward.
However, another problem seems to be unreasonable, we can clearly understand that demand with merit is huge, many people want to receive but the amount of merit that this forum provides is not enough. Many people have tried to contribute every day and every day, they try and they deserve to receive merit but unfortunately, no one recognizes their efforts, the senior members almost bypass and refuse all contributions.
That really is a very unfair thing and so I think merit should be offered more and more, instead of being as dripping as the present, if I say wrong, hopefully you'll ignore me when I'm just a useless newbie.

I'm not as knowledgable as other members here on the forum but can I ask why are you complaining about merits here?? Is it because you are a newbie now and you can't participate in signature campaign since newbies can't join??

There are some merit sources who are constantly sharing their merits in different sections. They took time in browsing threads hoping that they can share their sMerit but the problems is there are few who deserves merit and this is the TRUTH. I maybe got some merits from different users but its useless for me.

To be honest, there is no unfair here since the admins have the right to do what they can here (with the help of community of course). Its just nothing is perfect. There are some who will agree with this and there are users like you who see this as an unfair thing. Well if you want to stay then accept the rules they are implementing here but if you can't then the door is open for you to leave Smiley.

no one recognizes their efforts, the senior members almost bypass and refuse all contributions.
No, the real effort will be recognized. Look here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5020761.0
there are still many members who can get 10+ mercits within 1 month.

And look here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3048258.0
many senior members have created many threads giving Merits.

That really is a very unfair thing and so I think merit should be offered more and more, instead of being as dripping as the present, if I say wrong, hopefully you'll ignore me when I'm just a useless newbie.
I guess it will add the merit source, it is very likely that the merit source has been added.

It is unfair but this is for the forum to reduce spam or shitpost. About the merits flowing in the forum theymos did add more merit sources so it shouldn't be a problem with the demand of merits for worthy members in the forum.

I think this forum will be isolated to the old members! Blocking the entry of new players to come-in. Old members will just create as many account as they can and be merited on 1 each. I been here for 6months. I agree I'm not a perfect poster but I'm not spamming the forum as well. This new rule return my rank to newbie, I think it's just unfair to my part. Admin, is not considering those jr members that are here for quite sometimes. Members like me don't have a higher account to give merit to this account that's why I remain to be a.jr member.

Many people have tried to contribute every day and every day, they try and they deserve to receive merit but unfortunately, no one recognizes their efforts, the senior members almost bypass and refuse all contributions.

Show me, one such member, that didn't get the deserved merit and I'm willing to give him a few merits for his contribution

That really is a very unfair thing and so I think merit should be offered more and more, instead of being as dripping as the present, if I say wrong, hopefully you'll ignore me when I'm just a useless newbie.

Giving away merit like facebook likes would turn the merit system worthless.
Now, looking at your post history the first thing that I realized was that all of your posts had 4 lines....well, 4 lines AFTER you enrolled in a campaign. Why? We all know the answer.

You realize that:
a) older members still need merit for that
b) nobody is blocking you from posting and reading this forum

You don't get merit for "having" a higher account, it's the other way around, you get a higher account after earning Merits.
There are quite a few formerly members and full members that have earned far more merit than hero or legendaries.

Anyhow, just like the guy above, point me to a post of yours that you think deserves merit and I'll reward you.

And I think this is the post that I deserve to get when I talk about the irrationality here, the need and the supply is so different, you can not deny that, very few people pay attention to the contributions and rarely give merit

We live in a world where fairness barely or does not exist. bound by rules to follow, well for me current system is not the answer for massive influx of abusers but still it gave a little solution to minimize the problem.

Not even close to a good post.  I would also suggest that you fail to even realize that you shouldn't quote huge blocks of text when replying to someone.  Keep trying and you might earn some merit--probably not from me, though.

Edit:  You have apparently been here a while.  What's your excuse now?

well for me current system is not the answer for massive influx of abusers but still it gave a little solution to minimize the problem.
Yeah, but you haven't been here all that long, have you?  And I would argue that this is a pretty big step for Theymos to take and that the problem is likely bigger than you think it is.

This reaction we're seeing is almost as great as when the merit system was introduced.  All of this screaming will die down once reality sets in, and it's all good.

as for me, I really do not know what to feel about this new rule.  I think the previous merit system (without the requirement of 1 merit system for jr. member) was only in incubation period (only 8 months?) and need to be assessed time and time again for it to improve.  However, because of the new addition to the rule, the assessment became much more meticulous (e.g. number of merit sources compare to the number of forum users, merit sources per board to prevent being bias on one board which has more active merit sources, etc, and etc, and etc).

I think I will wait and give it more time before commenting.  Hopefully that many people will provide data analysis (e.g. loyceV, etc) soon as a guidance for us to evaluate the new system/

Oh well, it's now the world works. The rules are for a reason, with time it can be adjusted and changed as deemed fit. Just try to play along. Who knows. They might just change it tomorrow.
