It is very sad that. In this way Merit is given to the people in low quality posts. They should take tough action against them

Well, the post was well-written with good grammar for one thing.  Those two things are so rare on this forum that any posts with the two combined are a rarity.  Plus those 5 merits came from two different people, and since they're higher-ranked members, I generally trust that this wasn't some sort of merit-buying scheme.  It really wasn't a bad post at all.

Jealousy is an ugly thing, and I'm seeing a lot of it this morning in Meta.

Edit:
I do not think a simple comment can get 5 merits. Too confusing for this problem.
Kind of like how bounty shitposters do it?  If you'd ever done any reading here, you'd realize that a well-written post in clear English would certainly have a good chance at earning merits from multiple members.  But hey, keep being confused if you like.

I think he is related to somebody who donates his merit. I do not think a simple comment can get 5 merits. Too confusing for this problem. I regularly participate in the Altcoin Discussion Forum. There are many quality posts and good reviews. But it does not seem to have much merit by those who have merit.

The issue of giving merit to someone seems to be an eternal story for the bitcointalk forum.

Palming?
Is this the lingo?

Right, their are a lot of posts there that deserve merit but don't get it.. True..

But the section you mention is so full of shitposts that it drowns out the good posters..
People aren't going to read through all the shitposts to find posts to merit.. It's too swamped..

It may be that because if there is no propagation relationship between them, there will be no 5 merit in such post. Because there is a better post than aye post. They did not get the Merit but they were given 5 merit...very lol

I think you are putting a lot of grammar problems in writing posts. There are many people in many countries around the world participating in the bitcointalk forum. You think everyone is fluent in English.

I think the merit assignment does not depend on the current post. Viewers can look at the post history and comments of the given person. They will give away if they see in the past that person is contributing well to the community. we should not be too strict. Instead of scrutinizing others, let's think of something that will benefit the community

The point is that this merited post, even though it is absolutely nothing special, it is, nevertheless, as the Pharmacist has said, well written and he is even making a point (most of the Bounty campaigns around are bullshit project).
For the merit system to work (it's not working well YET) we need to understand that nicely written posts with good grammar and which are making a point SHOULD be merited. The merit system should not be a system enforced to reward just excellence, but to get rid of spamming shitposters. When all decent posts will get at least one merit on average, the merit system will have achieved it real goal.

HI, that was me!!

I started looking at the guys post history before he got any of those merits, I left his history page open and had to go to my moms..
Before he got any of those merits, before my research was done, I was considering giving him the 9 or 10 merits he needed to rank up..

Yep, I was considering straight ranking that person up but didn't make a decision yet..
By time I got back and back to my decision making, he got a few merits, so I only gave him 4..

I have been looking for someone that deserves merit but hasn't got any that I could just straight rank up all on my own..

He is pretty close now and I have been planning on checking on him sometime again..

I had one other possibly worthy contender but the person never responded to my questions about their project so they missed out.. So far..

I have been wanting to rank someone up with 10 merits by myself, but I haven't found the right person..

It's subjective opinion. For someone it is(post\comment\ etc) useful. There is no correct mathematical formula fot getting merits, only subjective opinion

Following from the Katewind post history his account probably was bought on August 2018 and after this he received 82 merits: http://loycevsbasement.privatedns.org/Merit/history/936214.html

Sadly, most of the newbies doesn't understand what a quality post is. They think that a well written post must have been 100+ pages book. Sometimes a more precised short post is much better to understand and read than a whole book of post that has no pure meaning at all.

Tho I personally doesn't have an idea if that is really a good one lol

It is not a very good post. Despite having a not good post, (Mungurul) has been given 5 merit for (Sultanar484)
and(Kazi Sajib) give (sk hossin) 2 merit  .If you knew Bengali, you would have understood.
