Interesting concept.  So it's essentially like Bank of America's Shop Safe "virtual" credit card service ?  Only difference being that these are pre-loaded I guess, instead of being linked to your checking account.

Very intuitive, I like it.

Hi Eveofwar,

Basically, these cards are always loaded and always be virtual so when someone allocates bitcoins in exchange for currency they have instant spending power to buy anywhere online or telephone.  You don't have to have a bank account tied to the virtual card as we handle all the pre-loading for you. Hopefully, we can help people who get into the  bitcoin economy and PR aspect with letting people know they can spend their bitcoins for cash equivalence anywhere online.

Thanks for the comment!

At first I thought that this was a new service provided by bitinstant, but then I noticed the subtle difference.

This is a very interesting idea, but I have a few questions:
- What do I type in the "Credit Card Name" field?
- What if I want to purchase something worth more than $50?
- If my item costs less than the amount I have in the card, can I still spend the rest in another purchase? (I suppose that I can't get the money back...)

Could you also tell us something about your company? I mean, who are you, where is your office, phone number, etc.? The site is pretty empty. Looks like one of those sites running from someone's basement.

Sorry, for getting back to you so late had a pretty big response so had to slow things down.  Yes, there could be come confusion with bitinstant sorry about that!

"- What do I type in the "Credit Card Name" field?"

We have our own name we can give you for "shipped items" .

"- What if I want to purchase something worth more than $50?"

At the moment we are limiting the amount as we want to make sure all transactions are legit. We are thinking we can have buyers request raising the limit as they become more trustworthy on the site.

"- If my item costs less than the amount I have in the card, can I still spend the rest in another purchase? (I suppose that I can't get the money back...)"

You can only spend on the merchant you loaded the virtual CC for. Left over balances we could *possibly* refund that amount back in bitcoins.

"Could you also tell us something about your company? I mean, who are you, where is your office, phone number, etc.? The site is pretty empty. Looks like one of those sites running from someone's basement."

This part made me laugh  Grin  Yes, its not like we have a "login" requirement I mean the same could be said of btcnow.net and accesscoin.com they to look like its run by someone out of their basement.

I have 2 people helping me and we do this out of my house so you are partially right just not the basement part  Tongue   If you need to contact us we have e-mail and if you need further assistance we can talk via the phone not a problem. Thanks for all the questions!

A few questions from my side too.

First, are there plans for a physical card?
Would it be possible to Authorize in the way mtgox does(ID copy + Proof of address) to get higher limits?($50 is really low)

Antares - at the moment we are trying to stick with instant email delivery of cards but will entertain physical cards at some point . As for the higher limits we are looking to raise it very soon just wanted to make sure  everything is working before doing so as $50 is a low amount.  Implementing a Mtgox type system is a good idea or  trusted user system for higher amounts.  Good questions.

This is me adding a positive review.

I placed an order for a card, but due to a technical glitch the confirmation wasn't delivered. I emailed after a few hours and got a prompt reply that solved the issue. I had subsequent questions which were all answered courteously and promptly. The credit card itself worked fine (I ordered one with a name and address.) A+ service.

I'll be ordering again, for sure. This seems to be the best direct BTC-to-VCC service, as far as I know. Compare

btcinstant: Many denominations, reloadable, customizable, affordable  Cool

to the others:

bitcoincashout: seems permanently out of stock  Angry
bitporium: offers very few options  Sad
bitcashretail: only one amount offered and overpriced.  Angry

What I would love to see at btcinstant is larger (or custom) denominations. Hopefully in the future.

I would also suggest renaming this thread to something that indicates this service is for virtual Mastercards. I bet you will get more customers that way. "Buy any items online" is overly broad, IMO.

Thank you Emil for your business, suggestion and positive review.  I'm currently working on getting bigger amounts as we speak $100, $200, $300 and yes customization of amounts for which I can do now just haven't implemented it.

Here are some plans in the future we plan on adding to BTCinstant.com:

1.) Be able to subscribe to your favorite online subscription using bitcoins.
2.) Buying Bitcoins
3.) Bitcoin Loans

The goal is to be a one-stop shop for all your bitcoin needs.

I'll keep everyone updated on the progress of these next ideas in development!
