I write these words for large group of Newbies who were Jr. Members few days ago…

Like many (hunderts or maybe thousands) of you few days ago I’ve been degraded from my „serious” Jr. Member rank…
Probably I wouldn’t even realized it so fast, but I’ve joined a few bounty campaigns where I do translation and moderation of ANN threads in my native language and i saw that images I've posted changed into naked links.

MERIT – it’s a keyword. I’ve read about it few months ago but I found fighting for it to hard for me… But what now – the rules were changed and being the translator makes me really in need to have one – only single one….

So let’s do this… I'll get one!
First though: „there are for sure places/sites when i can get one free. Come on – It’s only one – I don’t need more. So I did some google search, than BTT search… didn’t find anything.

So can’t get it totally for free, than came second though: „no worry… I’ll buy one!;-) Once again google search, BTT search, Telegram search… This time was better I’ve found several announcements users offer merit for sale, but each one came from users with negative Trust… Should i risk??? What really mean Negative Trust and this statement below „Warning: Trade with extreme caution!” hmmmm… can I trust this guy? I don’t think I can…

Third though: „Maybe try to beg for one? Checking few begging threads showed that users don’t give merits to beggars – they rather lough at them and seriously criticise this idea...

Another round "Let’s check once again what do I need to get merit legally way?". There are really tons of threads in meta section about it and all says „write something really readworthy”, „write something what will help another users”, „make sure that your post looks nice and pretty and is written in proper language”…
Ok on the one hand it doesn’t look hard but what can i write about? I’m not a specialist in blockchain area (honestly I’m still Newbie – hey just like my current rank ;-), there are thousands of users who are better than me and for sure they can write more than me.

Ok so let’s leave it and look into some threads to check if getting merit is really so simple… After checking dozens of threads one tithing came to my head: „Merits sucks!!! People really not often give merits especially to Newbies. Probably they (senior users) start this system to give merits one to another and keep newbies far for possibility to use this forum for earning money from Bounties. They are greedy. Beside there are thousands of threads and merits are given only in few of them. It’s rather impossible for me to be given one!”.

Then I’ve passed by some more discussion threads and found quite new one related to cryptocurrency regulation. Reading few posts I’ve realized that few days ago I found a link to very interesting article about dark side of cryptocurrencies and possibility of changing them to be less useful for criminals more for regular people. „This one should fit here and it also additionally it puts look from other side.” - I though. BTT is discussion forum so if I already get here (to that thread) i can give a few word from myself – and I did it.

You can’t even imagine how surprised i was few hours later when i opened BTT and saw that i was given MERIT only for this one single post. It wasn’t really big deal – it was only one short voice in the discussion nothing more, but one user found my opinion or probably rather not even opinion but article i linked interesting and gave me not one not two but FOUR MERITS only for this!!! By the way great thanks to DarkStar_ for his generosity.

The funniest thing is that i spent many useles hours looking the way to get merit and then when I was writing that post I wasn’t think about merits at all I’ve just though that article I’ve read fit into discussion and it’s also interesting (for me at last) so maybe someone will find it interesting as well.

After this I’ve changed my mind about this merit system and high ranked users - today I’ve realized a few things:

1. The source of discussion forum is… discussion.
2. Users who can give merits reads many threads and they really do give merit if they found something interesting readworthy or useful.
3. You don’t really need do nothing extraordinary to get merit (of course i still think, that i was very lucky… probably I wouldn’t give myself merit for this post)

I’m sure that there are many users who think like me until yesterday and wonder how what to do to get merit (cheat, buy, beg, get free etc.). I'm writing this post to give them some hope showing how easy geting merit in the proper way could be. Don't lose faith guys!!!

Below I give a link to my post I'm writing about

You have really explained problems of many newbies here as most of them are unable to express, many would have the same questions and would try to gain merits by the evil ways you mentioned, but yes it is more easy to gain it by putting useful content in any post I think anyone would surely notice it and respect your work on the posts and award you merits.

Many peoples have complaints that they are unnoticed here and only higher level members gain attention and merits too, but this is truly a wrong judgment as you can already see many peoples here who have more merits than there activity which is a great example to prove this judgment false.

I am getting across many newbies now with extraordinary post quality and this only happened after the merit requirements update, I guess its already a successful experiment.

Its either that or they might be people with prior knowledge about bitcoin being attracted to this forum again because of it being more spam free because of the merit system.
I’m sure that there are many users who think like me until yesterday and wonder how what to do to get merit (cheat, buy, beg, get free etc.). I'm writing this post to give them some hope showing how easy geting merit in the proper way could be.
Also hope that they are reading a lot on this board as well because if not, your post might have gone in vain. Either way, if you want more merit, you also better consider studying more about bitcoin and crypto.

Reading what you posted above shows me two things:
1. If there is no change in the rules, you'll probably never care about contributing to this forums at all.
2. If there is no change in the rules, you'll probably never visit meta or read many threads. In fact, you're thinking to buy merits, which makes me wonder, have you ever read the merit description before?

Where are you since the first time you're here?

I hope you'll continue to be contributive, and not only focus on your translation business.

I'm sure it will vanish but maybe some Newbies will read it - I think that my example is more likely to understand than short theoretical posts about way to get merit...

Well I'm not proud of this... but being honest you're probably right.....

Yes I did read about merit before but as I write in the post i thought "I’m not a specialist in blockchain area, there are thousands of users who are better than me and for sure they can write more than me so I have no chance to be given even one, high ranked users probably exchange merits between themselves (sorry for that! - but I thought so)"

I hope you'll continue to be contributive, and not only focus on your translation business.
Either way, if you want more merit, you also better consider studying more about bitcoin and crypto.
I will do my best....

Meh. I think you're being a bit too hard on yourself. It's a better post than what (probably) at least 90% of the forum makes imo.

You can’t even imagine how surprised i was few hours later when i opened BTT and saw that i was given MERIT only for this one single post. Giving merits based on a link is pointless. I gave you merits because I thought your post was interesting and constructive. (and most importantly, not spam)

Yeah we are in the same corner there buddy. I had known that it is really hard to get merit after I was demoted too to newbie last 3 days ago. I was so miserable that time and thought that I should do something different. So I cook a thread that was able to change my account rank. I rank up to member now and get advises from good people with high ranks on this forum. My hats Off to them.

I am getting across many newbies now with extraordinary post quality and this only happened after the merit requirements update, I guess its already a successful experiment.

This one is the product of the success of the experiment. The admin has done something exceptional knowingly that there could be so many newbie here that would spam in this section so he take a step ahead by letting them buy out the copper membership program with such privilege that could let you wear an avatar. I even do like to buy that membership to wear an avatar that will surely make my profile attractive.

For now I am still learning to post constructively and would like to post a thread once the spamming activities of the other members in this section will stop since there are some newbie here still could not accept the demotion.

I also agree with this idea, I know that all management's work is better for this forum but be aware that there are many spammers in the system and that contributing is a good part of The natural law for this forum to be better so changing the law is also a good thing for everyone thanks to this forum for giving me more knowledge about bitcoin money as well as other currencies this is not for Please do not give it as spam thank you

You are a great boy. It is immediately evident that you wrote this post without inventing every word, you wrote it from the heart, from the heart. I want to add something. It's not at all important whether I'm an expert in some area or not, I just need to communicate in a human way, support the conversation, ask a question to the interlocutor if something is not clear. And even more importantly, you need to be able to listen to others and respect their opinions.

Yes, I agree with the OP's comments and merit system for now seems to very important most especially for the once jr.member and now  a newbie including myself. For now, we don't have any choice but just have to accept the new rules of the admin in this forum wherein it has a much brighter impact on this forum in minimizing the people spamming the forum. Much better for newbies to continue in creating good postings so that this will be recognize and perhaps be merited someday. Believe in yourself as  you will get the desired merit you wish to have.

I'm new in this forum, after I read this sort story, as a newbie I said thanks a lot. On 2016 I heard about bitcointalk.org forum with it fenomenal stories that can make someone get rich. So, I tried to register unfortunately I never success with the reason IP address ban.

From September this year I tried again and success but there are some rules changed than I know before.
I ever read in meta disscuss to have merit a newbie at least have 2xx activities, no required quality of post. Correct me if I wrong, for any help a ton of thanks for you

I'm not sure if I understood but if you ask: does a newbie need to have any activity before getting merit? The answer is no.
You can write only one post and if somebody finds it useful or meaningful or interesting  or well written etc. he could give you a Merit.
You also can have 200, 400 or even 1000 of activity, but without at least one good post you still have zero merit....

As you read, few days ago that was my thinking exactly...
Now 6 day later after writing single thread and pointing out my opinion in several other threads I've collected almost 30 Merits.

You know what's funny?
When I've read first time some guides about merit I though that it isn't for me. I'll stay with Jr. Member rank - that's enough for me.
Then the revolution came, so I need one single merit to be able to post images (what is important to me). That's why I've started to put some more effort to my posts...
When I got first merit my job was done, but... I found this merit  kind of fun and challege as well. So I've ranked to Jr Member than to Member and now I'm aiming to Full Member rank. 100 Merits is my actual challenge.
I'm not thinking that earning this amount will be easy but now I'm sure that is possible for me. And if it's possible to me it's also possible for you! So once again Don't loos faith! ;-)

Im a demoted jr.member and im back in newbie rank until someone or a merit giver maybe noticed one of my post and gave me my first one.

Im not good in english, so hopefully you understand my post.
If me that's not good in english got merit i think all people can also get merit. Actually i didn't expect that i can get even only just one especially on the other section that the language must be english. Just belive in yourself, continue doing the right thing and you will be surprise what things can come to you.

I felt really blessed when i got my first one.
We have a great rule now, just see good side of it, it's for the forum sake. If it happened to me i believed that all people are able to get merit also.

Because of being promoted to Full Member I’ve decided to bump this thread for the first time.

It was written less than two months ago when I got my first merit (precisely 4 of them). I think that reading it may be good for many frustrated and tired low ranked users who already lost their hope or those who are loosing it at this very moment, that they are able to rank up with this “Fu...ng merit system”…
Don’t loose hope guys! It’s really possible!
